You are starting off wrong right there. Professionals say NEVER skip meals. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day even if it's just a peace of fruit. You are not losing weigh because you body thinks you are trying to starve it, therefore, no matter how much working out you do, if you don't eat it's going to hold on to the stored fat until it thinks it safe to let go.

I am dieting and I learned that exericise and proper nutrition go hand in hand. Before I changed my eating habits, I would jog on the treadmill for 1 hour everyday for a month and didn't lose A POUND. I went to a doctor that told me I had to change me eating habits.

This may not work for everyone, but it's working for me:

I eat only chicken breast, turkey breast, or fish. Nothing is fried. I eat a lot of green vegetables, lettuce, cabbage, greens. A a piece of fruit with every meal. Each mean consists of a meat, a veggie and a fruit. I can only drink diet sodas or WATER. I have to drink 8 to 12 glasses of water DAILY.

I jogg a minimum of 6 days a week, which includes running 2 miles 5 days a week and doing a walk/run combination of 6 miles on Saturdays and Sundays.

I have lost 35lbs in 3 1/2 months. My clothes definitely fit better and I feel great. I don't always want to exercise, but I know for my body it is required.

I cheat on weekends, but when I lose 3 lbs I say, gee if I hadn't had those chicken wings... But I'm doing it my way and I'm getting there.

Learn you body. I've found that during hump periods, if I eat fish everyday, I will way more weight then when I switch up.

Knowing that you have to give up everything you love to achieve your goal, the question is how badly do you want it?

The experts say maintain a strict diet for 6 days and slurge on the 7th as a reward and see if you live like that. Try it and holler back!

First of all, skipping meals is not going to do you any good.

You should have about 5 or 6 SMALL meals throughout the day. Have a healthy but light breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and snack on fruit and yogurt during the day. Drink plenty of water and get exercise (something low impact like walking is fine) at least 3 to 4 times a week for 1/2 an hour a day.

Don't eat or snack late at night, like after 8 or 9 PM.

Weight Watchers or Curves might really work.

You have plenty of options. Just exercise and not eating is not going to magically make you lose weight.

Good luck.

You should actually start eating more. Start out with a good, low calorie breakfast. Have a small snack mid morning. This could be a piece of fruit. Your lunch should be something light, but nutritious. I have a GNC ProCrunch Bar and carrots for lunch. In the afternoon, I have another piece of fruit. After work I workout prior to eating a decent diner.

Watching your calories is the big thing. Keep them between 1000 and 1200. If you don't see results, lower the calories. If you start losing too fast, raise them. Remember that losing weight too fast can be dangerous. I'd keep it around 2-3 pounds a week.

I would also recommend weight training if you are not doing that already. Muscle burns calories even when you are not using them. I'm not saying that you have to look like Arnold or Nicole Bass, but some muscle would help burn calories. I'd also recommend a good cardio exercise three times a week. Your long distance cardio muscles get energy from fat stores to produce energy.

Finally I'd recommend reading a good workout magazine like Muscle and Fitness and reading the book, The Edge, by Joe and Ben Weider. They give a lot of good info in that book.

Good Luck

You are starving yourself. If you don't eat ENOUGH your body will slow its metabolism down to keep you from dying and weight loss will slow (though eventually, you will kill yourself).

Lots of studies have shown that if you ate the same number of calories (presuming your lunch is adequate..which isn't stated in your question), spreading it out into 3-5 mini-meals through the day actually burns more calories.

You will be better off eating more often, just small quantities of protein and vegetables. Avoid junk food and white flours.

The weight loss equation is more calories burned than eaten, so anytime you're burning more than you're using you will lose weight, but what you eat can make a big difference in HOW FAST you lose weight.

Cut your carbohydrates to a minimum and when you eat them, they need to be whole grain.
No sugar.
No regular soda or sugar sweetened drinks. It's also a good idea to stay off diet soda (there's some research suggesting that the sweetners make you hungrier and mess with your metabolism)
Make sure you are drinking at least 2 qts of water a day.

You need to eat enough protein too (meat, fish, poultry, nuts, cheese, etc.) OR you will lose more muscle than you should.
-----
It's important to not starve yourself or fail to eat enough protein because if you do, your weight loss will include a lot of muscle and it will be a lot harder to keep the weight off.

The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism is 24/7. So if you lose muscle, your new metabolism will be slower and when you go back to eating the way you did before the diet, the same amount of calories will cause you to get fatter, faster. This is why people who yoyo diet end up getting fatter and fatter.

So....no matter how fast you want to lose weight, you need to do it the right way or you risk your health and increase the odds it will only be temporary.

Oh..and do some homework to figure out how many calories is right for you. http://www.fitday.com offers free software you can use to track your calories and exercise.

Over the long haul (more than a couple of weeks), unless you have a lot of weight to lose (like more than 50lbs) it is very hard and unhealthy to plan for more than 2lbs a week loss. Sometimes you will lose more than that during the first few weeks, but then it slows down.

Just like someone answered, don't do that. The more meals that you eat in a day the more that you that your body will burn. If you don't eat, your body will hold onto what you are putting in now because if assumes that you are starving and it won't know where the energy will come from.

Also, I was told once from Weight Watchers, that you need to alternate the caloric intake from day to day. Ex: 1000, 1300, 1100, 1500, etc. Then your body won't know what the next day will bring and it won't get used to what you are eating and so it will have to keep up. It is the same idea as taking aspirin. If you take the same dose everyday, then that amount isn't going to do the trick so you have to take more for the same results. But, if you don't take that everyday, then it will work.

Skipping meals is not the key to weight loss. When your body goes too long without food it goes into "starvation mode". It slows down the metabolism in order to conserve energy. This will make it more difficult to lose weight.
You want to keep your metabolism stimulated. Eat breakfast, lunch, and supper. Have healthy snacks in between, like fruit. Continue to exercise.
Never skip breakfast. This is the most important meal of the day for weightloss.

Going about it wrong. I recommend theses adjustments:
--Eat breakfast everyday. It starts your metabolism going earlier in the day and you can burn more fat.
-Eat MORE frequent, smaller meals, not less.
-Don't eat less than you need. Replace your meals with more nutritous ones. Follow the food pyrimad's guidelines. Eat more balanced meals. Don't cut down your food intake to one meal a day. It is counter productive.
-Make sure you are doing more cardio exercize than toning. Like running more, instead of lifting weights or doing ab workouts.
But you must also keep in mind, that becoming thin is about becoming healthy. Don't go for some sickly skinny body because thats what you see so often. Take care of yourself and you'll look awesome! Looking healthy is what's beautiful

your one meal a day slows down your metabolism and actually hinders your weight loss ability
think about it this way--

you are a cave person living in times where food was scarce--
in times of plenty--you eat frequent meals, are less hungry, are more energetic, and have less store fat ON you because your brain believes it's a time of plenty--so there's no need to store fat

on the other hand, in times of scarcity--you eat only one meal and your brain knows you need to store energy on your body just in case there isn't enough food--you won't die

so eating only lunch is a bad idea in that your brain is tricked into thinking there isn't food around, and thus hinders your metabolism and stores fat

your exercise is great
just eat at the minimum breakfast, lunch and dinner--if not even SMALLER meals--6 smaller meals over a day, with execise allows you to lose weight really fast

last point--breakfast is simply the most important meal of the day--and you need it to jump start your body in the morning

good luck!

#1. YOU ARE LITERALLY KILLING YOURSELF HERE. Not eatting breakfast AND dinner is one of the most idiodic things I've ever seen people do. You need breakfast to get your body prepared for the day so that you have energy to workout and you need to have dinner to replenish what your body has lost in calories and water at the end of the day.
#2. If you are exposed to sources of the media which lead you to not eat these 2 meals you must find somethign better to do with your time than entertain yourself with celebrity gossip and thinking it's cool to be skinny. If I saw you in person I would probably ignore you since in my opnion you're doing an incredible stupid thing.
#3. If you don't have body fat you don't have the basic building blocks of the body. Not to mention a decreased size in your heart chambers, less fat to control you heart and brain's general activities and your bone growth is also extremely stunted. If you want to make it look like you are desperate for less weight then there is every possibility that the next step will lead to a life threatening scenario. PLEASE talk to a doctor about your situation. They can treat you for malutrition which it's extremly likely that you have and he/she can also lead you to a physciatric doctor who can get you out of the habit of only eating one meal a day with strenuous excercise.
