Why do you want to bathe a parakeet? Unless the bird is covered in something sticky or oily, there is no need to bathe them. Some birds like to have sand-baths (you can buy dust-free sand at pet stores) or if you put a bowl of water in the cage they will sometimes splash and play in the water. This should be the extent of any bath a parakeet takes.

My sister bathes her parrots and a bird from New Zealand that's similar to a parakeet.

She bathes them individually in her bath tub that's been cleaned before and after the birds have their bath.

She runs a cool bath that is only about one and a half inches deep(for the parakeet-sized bird) and lets the bird splash around for a while then she runs a cool fine wetting-setting that's just heavier than a mist, on the hand-held shower and sprays the bird while it is sitting on a low wooden bird stand in the tub. They like the fun and the attention very much. It helps to get rid of the bird dust from the feathers.

Some parakeets love baths, others not so much. It's all up to your bird if he wants to bathe or not. You should never force a bird to bathe, but should give him a choice to about once a week. Some parakeets like to be misted. Others like to use their water dish and splash water on themselves. Others like to bathe in a shallow dish of water. Try different things to see what he likes, but don't force him to get wet. For more details, click on the link below to read an FAQ article on bathing parakeets (aka budgies).

Buy a clean spray bottle and bathe the parakeet by spraying
it through the cage bars. Be careful and don't have the
water cold,just lukewarm water.

Unless he is covered with molasses ( God forbid) just give birdie a little container of water and he or she will have a ball. They LOVE bathing themselves. Also if you can find a little mirror to put in the cage your bird will enjoy that. Parakeets are fun and sweet and very vain. Be sure he has food and water at all times...and I sure hope you are a non smoker.

Here's how me and my keet do it :) I have a cute little neon yellow bird tub about long as my hand including the fingers.I'll fill it up with water for her,but she won't get in it unless I'm holding it.That's her way of sharing the bathtime with me. :) Anyways, she gets in it and has a blast. They will make a mess but it's adorable to watch them bathe. And if your keet is in love with you the way mine is they'll probably get on your shoulder and shake some water on you too. :)
Anyways,if you feel that you want to give your bird a bath go for it.Just use,as the others have said,a small plate, container or bowl fill it with water and watch. But,make sure that when you give your bird a bath there are no drafts around because that can make them sick. And make sure that you take the bathtub out when they are done because I have seen some keets that will drink their own bathwater.....with turds in it.....so um make sure you take it out. Have fun!

My parakeet refuses to take a bath, so I spritz him with warm water in a spray bottle, he seems to enjoy that, this is the first parakeet that I have owned that won't get in his bird bath.

They have bird baths that clip on on the cage. Check out a pet store.

At first i thought you said baking one, um, bathing one? Just put a pie plate full of cool water out for it to get in, it will bathe itself.
