Good point! As a Vietnam vet decorated 26 times, however, I will assume the right to comment on any American war, and you guys are doing a great job and should only be commended. People forget that good soldiers do their duty, wherever it is. If they didn't, they wouldn't be very good soldiers, would they? God bless you all and hope you do get home soon and safely. Liberals, especially those who have avoided service, should SHUT UP!

OMG Thank you!!! I agree with you 100%.

I feel the only people that should voice their opinion on our troops in Iraq are the ones that are there or going there.

Also I just wish our government would step back and let our troops do the job they were trained for.

Like I have been saying let the troops decide if they want to come home ( my son which is in the Marines feels the job isn't done yet )

I'm getting sick of seeing stupid people put down the Military. I respect the troops opinion more than anyone else cause they are the ones putting their lives on the line not some coward setting at home wining.

Does sound like an interesting idea. Since we served in Iraq, we are the only ones with the right to say anything about it. Unfortuntely, that violates our first amendment, freedom of speech. Its hard to fathom, but Im sure we would have been drug into many more wars if we didnt have people on the sidelines complaining on how we did busines...

On a sidenote, many people in the media do not blame the military for the problems. they blame the people much higher on the totem pole who lack a plan or clear vision. This uncertaintly has led to problems with the military in Iraq, which they report on.

First, I haven't heard anyone blame the military ! It's the administration.
2. If we don't ***** at home, do you really think the government listens to the soldiers?
They didn't even provide them with all the equipment they needed.
3. We, are all proud that this country has people that are willing to give their lives for a just cause, I just want to be sure this is the right cause.
4. It's time our government gets the peoples feelings about going to war, before sending you all into this God Awful situation.

God Bless!!

I understand and agree with your comment/question. Even though I am in favor of us being there and get in heated debates here with others about it, I often wonder when I'm doing so "am I really supporting troops this way". No one knows what they (the troops) think until they hear what they have to say. I was thinking about this again the other day when the senate was hearing proposals for withdrawals and all these different "plans"...and the thought occured to me..."too bad we can't give the troops a vote". I guess that wouldn't be practical, but who is in a better position to know what is and isn't being accomplished and whether it is worth the price. Please know that many here are praying for your safety and for your success. You are all doing a fine job. I just hope when I am sounding off against some of the liberal Bush bashing left that I'm not viewed as being too "gung ho" with your lives because I'm just sitting here in the comfort of my home giving my opinions, you have to live through this while we all talk about it. Thankyou for your service. Good luck and God bless you and God bless America.

I am in the military, too, and a fervent supporter of Bush, the military and our missions in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Having said that, I vehemently disagree with you that troops in Iraq or, even just people in the military for that matter, should be the only ones allowed to speak out for or against the war. Freedom of speech is the most cherished of all our rights. It's certainly ironic that we fight to protect the right of citizens to speak out against the military and our mission, but every troop knows this going in, and I for one am proud to protect that right however absurdly some may choose to exercise it.

Having said this, I do wish that people would actually do their research as opposed to lazily searching blogs or news sites. Getting information from the troops directly might be a good start.

No, they can say it. It's funny to me that I will be lectured by those who only saw war on CNN what is it "really" like. Then they will talk about all the "atrocities", and end with saying "but I support the troops." Yeah right, the troops you just denigrated.

In short, anyone can say what they want but only those of us who have been there know the score.

Keep this in mind, I have seen dozens of Saddam apologists here, people who say he was framed, was a stern but fair leader or that he was not threatening us, so he should be left alone. How many people have defended the marines in Haditha, who are apparently guilty until proven innocent.

Shows what side they're on, doesn't it?

First of all, let me thank you for your service. I appreciate what you all are doing over there. I get it.
Secondly, I do find it humorous that people over here say that someone else is better off if we just leave them alone. When the people saying it have never left the U.S. I've traveled. I've been to over 14 different countries (Kuwait being the latest) and I can honestly say that the U.S.A. is the best.
I agree with you. You have a job to do and you don't need to hear a bunch of self centered people who have no idea of the big picture telling you what you should do.
FYI. I heard Glenn Beck yesterday saying that conservatives aren't allowed on AFN because you need to hear the "other" side. Well I believe you need to hear the side that says: "We support you and we believe in what you are doing. Keep up the good work."

So just know that there are people over here that get it. We support you AND what you're doing. Keep up the good work.
And thanks again for your service.

I am a mother of 3 boys and if they went anywhere to fight a war I would hope that fellow Americans sitting in their air conditioned homes and driving their Hummers and going to the Spa getting their tans even.. would think for one minute and remember other countries are listening to you gripe about the war and your President. Meanwhile your countrymen are out there defending your right to do it and laying down their lifes for that right. Think about it better.. one day it could be anyone of us fighting and maybe even in our beloved country. Soldiers can gripe louder than anyone about it but rarely do you ever hear them doing so. Sure they enlisted that is what is so great about our freedom "choices" . When we are at war we should stick thru it together that is what "United we stand" means. I think there were weapons of mass destruction and furthermore have you forgotten 9-11 ? Wake up if you don't like America and the President everyone voted in.. there are options....God bless America, God bless the President and God Bless our boys and girls in Iraq and anywhere else in the world working night and day so we can still have freedom!!
