Interestingly and confusingly, I have heard a number of people say that Jesus is a prophet "but nothing more" or that they believe that Jesus was a prophet born of Mary etc. "but nothing more". How do you reconcile the things that Jesus said of Himself? Such as
"I am the way the truth and the Life, no one comes through the Father but by me." He also said "I am the resurrection and the life" when he raised someone from the dead. Most other prophets never claimed these things nor that they themselves were divine saying "before Abraham was, I am." How do you reconcile the attitude that even some of the Jews of his day had toward him, thinking that He was blasheming saying that He was God, etc? The Chief Priests, Scribes, Pharasees and Sadducess wanted to kill Him because He made Himself out to be God.
What do you do about that? Do you simply dismiss that and say that those parts of the Bible are false? How would you respond?
Was He a prophet, who spoke for God, or not?

None of your answers addressed my question. Is Jesus a prophet or not. Christian automatically say "He is more! He is more!" Non Christians automatically say "He was merely a good prophet and nothing else" or "He was not a prophet". The fact of the matter is, He was either mad or a prophet (by prophet I mean, one who speaks the word of God directly from God). Whether or not He was more is a different issue. What about what He said of Himself? "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me." Was that the truth or wasnt it? If it was then what does it mean? If it wasnt then was he simply making it up?
What is the deal? Is He a prophet or not?

In Isaiah 9:6-7, it says, Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. And what is the name of this son? The "Mighty God" in the next verse.
JESUS CHRIST IS: "THE GOD ALMIGHTY"
Isaiah vs 6:
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

people get all these misconceptions of Christianity such as whether Jesus was a prophet or not. This really gets me because this is all or mostly from the ideas, opinions, or theories of other people, not the Bible. The Bible is the basis of Christianity, and if you want answers for your questions relating Christianity then you must go to the Bible. The Bible says that Jesus is the Son of God in so many places that it doesn't take much research to find the references in the Bible. He had a virgin birth, and after he died he rose from the dead and returned to heaven. His life compared to the lives of prophets in the Bible is so much different.

A prophet gives the prophetci word-- so in that way I wouldsay yes.
BUT HE was not just A PROPHET!
HE IS and WAS THE GOD!
1 GOD became a man !
2 HE was perfect in all ways !
3 HE was seen by angels as HE was
originally (THE GOD), and as a man !
4 HE taught the non Jewish ( as well as many Jews) !
5 HIS teachings were (and are) believed by MANY people !
6 HE returned to HIS place - we call that place heaven !
This is The Entire Story required to become
A TRUE CHRISTIAN.

Jesus is the son of God. the Bible says that he told Mary that "he (Jesus) was going about his father's(God) business" when they found him left behind in a temple preaching at the age of 12.
John 3:16 says that he (Jesus) is the only begotten son of God.
when Jesus was baptized by John the baptist, the spirit of God said "This is MY son in whom I am well pleased"
there are too many statements in the Bible that clearly state that he was not a prophet, but the Son of God, although he did carry the message of his father (God) he was much more than a prophet, he is God's son.

This is one of my best topics, so please email or IM me later if you wish to discuss it more as i must leave in a few minutes i'm headed to an important meeting in the city
But according to Christianity Jesus Christ is God and Man, he is one of the Trinity, but on one of the three gods, he came in place of the known Father, who he is as god, to save the world from damnation according to the Father's wishes.
According to Judeism (the Jews) he is a wonderful prophet but naught more, a fool who went to far, who would have been a great prophet had he not proclaimed to be God
this is a raw breakdown, and i wish i could explain it in more detail but i must be going now, take care and never loose hold of your light and fall into darkness.

I believe that JESUS is a prophet but not as the son of GOD or GOD itself coz there is only one GOD.Jesus was just a mere person just like us but was given a special task to perform on earth and was sent by him through MARIA though she was still virgin .This task was to propagate ISLAM in the whole world that there is only one GOD and that GOD is called ALLAH.

just think logically than going into arguement.
Jesus was borned,he was infant then child so on to be Adult man.
he was carpenter,so he use to work for living.
He use to Eat Food, then he should be going to toilet also as we humans do.
We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Yaqoob (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat (the twelve sons of Yaqoob (Jacob)), and that which has been given to Moosa (Moses) and Iesa (jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam
people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allah aught but the truth. The Messiah Iesa (jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allah and His Word, ("Be!" - and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Rooh) created by Him; so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not: "Three (trinity)!" Cease! (it is) better for you. For Allah is (the only) One Ilah (God), Glory be to Him (Far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is AllSufficient as a Disposer of affairs.
Verily, the likeness of Iesa (jesus) before Allah is the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: "Be!" - and he was
