The name you give to a child sends out an important signal to the world. In the book "Freakonomics", Levitt and Dubner studied the relationship between a child's name and how well they would do in the world. What they found out was pretty interesting and might change the way people think about naming their children! See http://www.freakonomics.com/ch6.php
So I wouldn't name my child Shaquita.

I struggled to name my daughter. But I finally considered the following:
1. Were people going to be able to spell and say it properly? If they weren't how upset would it make me?
2. Would this be a name children would tease her about?
3. Would I want to go to a professional, i.e. doctor, lawyer, etc. with this name? Would people take her seriously?
I saw lots of cute and trendy names I liked, but didn't think they would meet all of my criteria, so I settled for a simple and classic name.
That said, naming your child is a personal think and if you are willing to live with the consequences go for it. I have known people with unique names that wished they had common ones and people with common names that hate being plane Jane.

Absolutely not. Sounds like she'd be cursed to wearing a fruit salad on her head for the rest of her life.

please do not do that when people look at names on paper they try to put a face with them, that name says GHETTO.If that is already somones name live with it love it. Don't let anyone judge you by your name prove to them that you not GHETTO.
