If there is alot of blood inside the ear canal, I recommend having it checked out - it is very unusual, and could mean something serious is wrong. Scratching doesn't always mean the dog is itchy - it is telling you there's something wrong - they can't tell you it's hurting any other way. If there is just a very tiny bit of blood , it could have been an ear infection or ear mites which can wait until monday, but you may want to find a way to stop the dog from scratching it (If you have one of those "cones" for the dog, now would be a good time to use it).

I would say the scratching caused the bleeding. As long as the dog isn't acting different in any ohter way and if you can keep a watch on the scratching then you can probably wait till monday. But keep him from scratching, real intense scratching can cause them to break blood vessels in their ears and then they get a cauliflower ear which will go away but leaves the ear looking funny.
If he will allow it try cleaning his ear. Maybe he has something as simple as mites and you getting rid of some of the hard brown gross waxey stuff may help relieve it a little.
Good Luck.

My dogs have occasionally gotten little popped blood vessels in their ears which causes small hematomas just under the skin..this will eventually go away. The bigger question is, like you said, did the scratching cause it, and if so, why is your dog scratching his ear? If I were you, I would definitely go see your vet on Monday and in the mean time, try to keep your dog from scratching and making it any worse, and just keep an eye on him. If it does seem to be getting worse, I would take him to an emergency vet before monday.

Search in and around ear for a Tick or Flea. Check other ear and face too. Build your own Cone for the dogs head ( so dog can't scratch) out of a plastic ,5 gallon pail ,lid. Use iodine or Peroxide ( dog will squirm) Q-Tips ,cotton , rags AND maybe scissors to cut down to problem. -Do the same stuff your Vet. is going to do and save the money

The usual ear trouble for floppy eared dogs is often cleared up by cleaning the ears out with 3% Hydrogen Peroxide..Note: 3% from the Pharmacy aisle,,,not the stronger 'bleach your head' type. Take dog OUTSIDE to do this, as they will shake head vigorously after. Might want to wear an apron. Pour a capful in each ear...let dog shake. I clean the outer ear with cotton balls dampend with Peroxide. It gets a LOT of goop off.

Why ask right here? no you will locate your canines ears. He yelps because of the fact his ears harm him. Are they sparkling? look interior are they pink? have they have been given scabs? Your canines might have an ear an infection, mites or merely user-friendly sores in his ears. Please get his ears examined by potential of a vet to confirm why he's scratching, and yelping. If he does have an infection or mites your vet will prescribe medicine for him. Please try this ASAP so your canines does not go through with ear aches.

You need to take the dog to the vet. They will give you an ear cream to put into the dogs ear then the dog will wear a hood over its head. (it looks like a funnel). Probably either a fungus (don't worry it isn't contagious) or ear mites.
Good luck

Your dog has ear mites. Don't wait till Monday, if you don't HAVE to. Think of that dog as your 'friend'. Remember?
