He "got" rid of the element that was leading to no good. If you raise roses, and a part of the plant gets a mold for which there is nothing that can take it off, you prune that piece of the rose off. If the whole plant except the roots and one shoot get the mold, you cut off everything except the piece that doesn't have it, because otherwise the whole plant will die. It was the same with humanity. Men had come to a point where doing good was totally and completely outside their understanding. If you watched Serenity, think of the Reavers. Nothing good could come from that, their children were going to be just the same, there was no hope. God gave them a space of time to repent and to give up their evil ways, but when he sent two angels to Sodom and Gomorrah, they couldn't even find 10 men willing to take them in and provide shelter. OK, we're not talking about sinlessness that God was looking for, or even outstanding righteousness: we're talking about people of a moral caliber to not rob, rape, and/or murder just because someone new came into town. And Sodom and Gomorrah were probably about the same size as L.A. county, population wise. People like to say that L.A. is just as bad as Sodom and Gomorrah were, but I think if I went into L.A. and started looking, I could find 10 people who weren't going to rob me, rape me, or kill me, and would be willing to let me sleep on their couch rather than make me sleep on the street. If Sodom and Gomorrah had been permitted to exist, their brand of evil would have spread through the world, strangling the human race. Before the flood, we came down to one family that was of this moral caliber: Noah and his wife and sons. And Noah was a drunk! Obviously, God's standards weren't that high if the one he choose was a drunk!

God didn't get anything out of it, in fact God was hurt that He had to flood the earth. He wiped out what He had made because He was made at what was going on. This is why is promised not to flood the earth again and sealed the promise with a rainbow. Next time the Bible says He's going to burn it up.

God made Adem and Eve. They sinned got kicked out of the garden. The had children. 3000 years later everyone was so evil God desided to end the world. Lucky for us Noah and his wife and sons were holy so God told Noah to build the ark. It took him 100 years.
P.S. People back before the flood live to 900 years old or older!

well for the ones that seen these events and lived to tell about it they understood that there is a God and he is very powerful full of grace and mercy and wrath and judgement. in both accounts we see judgement and grace. the bible says noah found grace in the eyes of the lord and because of abrahams plea God had mercy on lot and his family in sodom. we also see wrath and judgment in breaking Gods comandments and laws. both instances the bible says that Gods heart was grieved.genesis 6:5-6 says and God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earht and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually and it repented the lord that he had made man on the earth and it grieved him at his heart this is the case of the flood genesis 18:20 and the lord said because the cry of sodom and conorrah is great and because their sin is very grievious. its simple really when you disobeyed your parents you was punished this was no different it was punishment for disobeying him simple as that.

The same thing a child gets out of putting a hamster in a microwave: a sick, sadistic pleasure at watching something die.
It's all the more a propos an analogy given how "gods" behave like vindictive children....

Well, I must admit, it almost seems like an ultimate sacrifice on His part, because the only ones to come back to Him were the wicked!!
... and you might have thought he'd want to see the good ones first!!
Yet Noah lived for 800 or 900 years as I recall.
So I'm not sure He got much fun out of it at aLL!!!!

He got the same thing we got after world war 2, a cleaned up world without brutality and evil holding sway. Not perfect, but a lot less of a law enforcement problem.
