Why do humans have this need to be better than others?

I do not think that this phenomenon may be called competitiveness in countries where resources are relatively sufficient. It is a lack of culture, I think. If to remember that people pretend to be not only biological, but also social beings.

Some people do not act so saying that they will not eat 5 dinners during one day anyway and they consider more spiritual meaning of their actions.

Ignorance of knowledge of Creator - Giving priority to self instead of Creator 's commondments, Choice to live better in this world not even thinking of how to get life in coming life which is endless

It is a projection of their own insecurities. If someone feels less than others all the time then when they get the chance to be or feel like they are better than someone they take it.

I agree with most posts here, nature of our human ways, and any animal, is to make sure you come out on top. And as for the suffering part, its basically to make sure you are on top, and stay on top.

being competitive in itself is not bad...it is our survival kit! but yes wen d motive n intentions r negative den competitiveness takes turn for d worst...! but fair competition should fuel every morning! n as for d need in humans..as i said before its our survival kit..even nature practices competition..dinosaurs werent competitve dey perished..humans did n dat is y i can answer dis question of urs 2day!
