Mormons and Catholics?
Huge differences.
In theory, they believe in the same God. Catholic come from the Original Catholic Church given to St. Peter (Simon Peter) by Jesus Christ. Catholics report to the Holy See (The Vatican) in Rome. Mormons are a United States based Protestant offshoot born out of one of the other Protestant Christian denominations, not sure which actually. Mormons have the book of Mormon which is a book written by Joseph Smith talking about a visual or visitation he had by Jesus or some other Angelic Entity. Truthfully, I am much more versed in Catholicism than Mormonism which I have fundamental questions with.

Beliefs and symantics. All religions have different interpretations of the writings in the Bible. Some do not even use it. The Catholic church is one of the first, dating back to Jesus and the Twelve Apostles, in particular Peter, the leader of the Apostles, who is traditionally regarded as the first Pope.
The term Mormon was first used in modern times in the 1830s as a pejorative to describe those who believed that Joseph Smith, Jr. had been called as a prophet of God, and who accepted The Book of Mormon as scripture.

Mormons believe there are different levels of heaven and that is they have enough children and do what the book of Mormon tell them, they will get their own planet. Mormons can only marry Mormons and are considered "selfish" if they don't bring children into the world. Catholics believe pretty much the same as CHristians exept they pray to saints instead of directly to God. Also, they must confess their sins to a person, not directly to God.

A Catholic believes that the pope has authority over the world, in both religious and secular matters, and cannot be wrong when he speaks ex cathedra. Neither were the other popes who contradicted and renounced each other.
A Mormon believes that Joseph Smith, a convicted con man, was a prophet of God, to whom the angel Moroni gave golden plates containing the book of Mormon, and then took the plates back to heaven after they were miraculously and perfectly translated. The translation was then revised in thousands of places.
I'm neither; I'm a Christian.

Mormons believe Jesus came to America, as evidenced by some tablets Joseph Smith found (but then lost). Catholics believe that in addition to scripture (bible, etc.), historical traditional and verbal traditional are a legitimate part of the canon.
