Smoking does cause a cough. But also: allergies can cause a consistent cough, sinus drainage, also cancer. So many things could do, that the only way to know for sure is to see a doctor. Which if the cough is from cancer, the sooner the better about seeing a doctor.

a consistent cough could be a chest infection - these can normally be treated with antibiotics.

it could just be smoking too much, try smoking less and see what happens. if it doesn't go away, then it's probably something else.

the best thing to do is to see your doctor to make sure it's not something more serious.

Yes indeed it could mean you are smoking to much. It could also mean you have asthma, bronchitis or just simple allergies. If I were you i would go to a doctor and have it checked out before it worsens maybe he can give you and inhaler or some other prescription.
