My puppy is an airedale mix, I don't know the mix I think german shepherd. Anyway she's a little over 3mos old, and we got her from a rescue shelter. where she was alway in the crate. So we clean the crate constantly and I'm cleaning it aggressively, so now she goes in the crate instead of outside. and when she sees me, she gets excited and pees. What can be done? Please help.

Do not scold the dog - it could make it worse! I have a similar situation, and I found that the more soothing you are to the dog, the faster it goes away. If the dog isn't afraid of you, it shouldn't pee itself. Use bleach or a bleach-based cleaner on the spots she has urinated - if she can smell urine, she will assume that it's a toilet. Also some good house-training (if it hasn't been done already) might be helpful - when the dog knows that outside is for peeing, it should stop going inside.

Your puppy must really love you. Rescuing her was the best gift you could have given her. She is so excited about being on the "outside" and seeing you that she doesn't know how to handle the excitement. She is young still, and her ability to control her urine will come in time. Do you want her to continue to "go" in her crate - or do you plan to train her to go outside? This might be the answer. The more time she spends outside of the crate and you teach her, she will know when to go and not. Right now, I think it's just her excitement and love for you. Time - time - time....

my puppy does this every so often .....

a trainer informed me that it is a sign of submission for the puppy and the best suggestion is to let it be, use positive methods and clean up the mess.
in time it should go away ..... the worse thing you can do is punish your puppy.

A crate is a tremendous tool for keeping your puppy safe and for training. I've crate trained my puppy of 6 months, from the first day i got her, she has never soiled her crate and has only sprinkled my kitchen floor on day one(granted, she was under anesthesia after being spayed). Since then, i've had extreme luck with her! At the age of 4 months, we taught her to ring a bell that i place at the door to inform us when she needs to go outside and potty.
As some suggested in previous posts - do check the size of your crate. giving your puppy too much room to roam around in may be the problem ... or perhaps you are not taking her out to her "potty spot" soon enough ..... at 3 months. (i believe) she is only able to hold herself for 3 to 4 hours .... no longer. it takes time and patience and lots of training and rewards! good luck

As he is simplest simply started to do this, i might first be certain that your vet checks him over to rule out any bodily problems, reminiscent of a UTI, that could be causing it. Providing he gets the all-clear well being clever, I consider this is commonly submissive urination. It's not an distinct situation, and most domestic dogs simply develop out of it ultimately. It can be most generally visible within the extra timid, touchy pups. The idea of simply ignoring it's a excellent . Actually if you happen to pay awareness to it, or reprimand him it is going to just intent him to pee more. He is seeking to show you that he knows you are the 'boss', and is submitting to your authority. In case you get mad at him, he'll feel he hasn't made himself clear, and be much more submissive! Try to make any homecomings or greetings, low key affairs. Ignore him for 10 minutes or so whilst you first get residence, then greet him quietly and lightly. Often crouching down, rather than towering over him, can make him less inclined to pee. Satisfactory of good fortune.

I have a pit bull/ terrier mix that does the same thing. I am sure that is will go away in time. In the mean time if it is a big problem try getting some thing you can get at any pet store to put on her. It is called "hot pants" . It is used when a female is in heat or they also can Also be used for excitable urination.

As he's merely merely began to try this, i might first verify that your vet exams him over to rule out any actual issues, together with a UTI, which would be inflicting it. offering he gets the all-sparkling well being smart, i think of it rather is in all probability submissive urination. it is not an uncommon concern, and maximum puppies merely advance out of it is going to actual. it rather is maximum oftentimes seen interior the greater timid, gentle puppies. the assumption of merely ignoring it rather is a sturdy start up. in certainty in case you pay interest to it, or reprimand him it is going to merely reason him to pee greater. he's making an attempt to coach you that he's familiar with you are the 'boss', and is submitting to your authority. in case you get mad at him, he will think of he hasn't made himself sparkling, and be much greater submissive! attempt to make any homecomings or greetings, low key affairs. forget approximately him for 10 minutes or so once you first get dwelling house, then greet him quietly and flippantly. each from time to time crouching down, rather than towering over him, could make him much less vulnerable to pee. ultimate of success.

As for the urinating while excited. The best way to handle this is when you come home or let her in from outside or whenever it is that she is doing this ignore her at first. When you walk in don't look at her, don't pet her, don't talk to her. Go straight to the door and take her out and tell her to potty or use your keyword for potty with her. Then bring her in make her sit and greet her then. You have to be consistent with this though or it won't work. Good luck!

it's gonna take time to get through this with her. She is peeing like that as a sign of submission. She was obviously beat and treated bad and that's why you got her from the animal shelter. The only thing you can do is praise her when she does good and reward her if possible when she does good and goes outside. The peeing when she sees you part...get a pair of boxer and put them on her with the flap part to allow her tail through, she will hate it at first and try to tear it off, but if you can keep them on her, she will not likely pee herself, because dogs typically don't like to sit in their pee or poop.

my dog is 1 1/2 yr now. and he still pees when he's excited. it's like a bad habit. he usually bite one of his toy to resist himself but it happens.
why do you put your puppy ina crate? let her run free. that's why she's over excited once you let her out. think about it. how would you feel if you've been in a cage all day and someone let you out?
