I've heard that it is bad for your body to eat before you exercise. The reason being that, as you are exercising, all the blood flow goes to your stomach to aid in digestion instead of going to your muscles, and you should wait 2-3 hours after you eat to exercise because of this. Is this true fact or is it just another diet myth? I need to know because the only opportunity I have to exercise is shortly after breakfast. I love to exercise and I want to get the most I can from it (who doesn't?).

From what I understand this is not a myth, but truth. When food enters your stomach your body starts the process of digestion. This includes blood flowing to the mid section of the body. When you exercise blood flows to the muscles that are being worked....which explains the pumped up look. Doing this right after eating can cause problems with the digestion of foods....especially if the foods are already hard to digest.
Maybe make a small adjustment to your schedule and exercise before you eat...then eat a light healthy breakfast. It will be a good way to kick start your metabolism in the morning.

I believe its fact. Simply because we have always been told not to go swimming for at least an hour after eating. If we do we can cramp up in the water. Which can lead to drowning. Although I believe your muscles will still get benefits from exercise even right after eating. Check out any number of fitness magazines. Most of them have their own websites.

If you eat a very heavy breakfast, with a lot of fatty foods, it can bring the blood flow to your stomach. If you have to eat before hand, try to cut out fatty foods. But any exercise is better than none, so keep up the good work!

This is true but a myth. a good breakfast is always a good start. i would avoide artificial sugars, they are much harder for the body to break down. but working out in the morning should not affect anything your stomachs digestion. your muscles get bigger as you tear them wile working out. that is where the saying "no pain no gain" comes from.

hoped this helped
