My suggestion, if you're going to a bar, is to be honest with your bartender, tell him/her that it's your 21st birthday and you're not familiar with the drinks and you'd like something that you can enjoy that won't be too strong.
Then... tell him/her what your favorite flavors are. Do you like citrus flavors? Spicerack type spices? Fruit flavors like strawberry or peach or pineapple? Coconut? Chocolate? Cranberry juice? Peppermint? Butterscotch? Something you can't taste alcohol in at all? (If that's what you're aiming for, just about anything with vodka will remove the taste of the vodka. It will just feel *warm* but not have a distinctive flavor.
Tell the bartender if you'd like something more sweet or simple (I'd avoid too much sugar and thick sweet stuff... that alone is enough to make you sick feeling sometimes) and do you want it to be clear and light or frozen and creamy? A good bartender will ask the right questions... and have some great suggestions based on your own personal preferences.
If all else fails, try a Fuzzy Navel. It's like... orange juice and peach schnapps or something. Very simple and tasty :)

You dont want to drink any of the funny drinks or the ones with cute names. Sugarry drinks are for kids.
You need a classy drink to sip that will do the job and impress people 8-)
I suggest VO and 7 or 7 and 7. Shots of JD are a blast too
Please dont drink and drive and alwasy buckle up

Whatever you do, don't drink too much. My sister got married on my 21st birthday so it was a double celebration. Unfortunately, I spent too much time puking.
Stick with the mild drinks: strawberry daiquiris, slow gin fizz, sex on the beach, Georgia peach but don't mix beer and liquor...eww!
No matter what, you'll get a lot of free alcohol, just be responsible!
Happy Birthday!

Start with MUMM NAPA VALLEY sparkling wine, then serve Fetzer Chardonnay with appetizers, and if your having steaks find some Mirassou Pinot Noir, followed by a dessert wine like Sutter Home's Moscato. If you are having a dinner mix of beef and fish or chicken try a Riesling from Fetzer. Bon Apetit and Happy B-Day!

Drink your favorite/s. But remember that after the birthday comes the next day - and the hangover.
