LOL. Look at all the morons parroting "8 glasses a day".
IT'S A MYTH, PEOPLE!!

Drink when you're thirsty. Period. You don't "need" any certain amount.

They say 8 glasses of water is the best but personally I don't drink that much. I think for the average person 3-4 glasses if any liquid all together is enough. But if it's a hot day outside I recomened a little more than usual water amounts.

Most say "eight 8-ounce glasses", but I read a study that all that does is just make you have to use the bathroom more. Mostly anything you drink or eat will have some amount of water in it. There comes a point of dimishing returns. That study could have been complete garbage, but the one tha said you should drink 64 oz. of water a day could have been as well! :) I would guess it varies by the person, depending on your size and level of activity.

for the longest time they have been saying atleast 8 glasses but recently they found out that it depends on the person. if you drink 8 glasses and tend to go in and out of the bathroom then 8 glasses they say is too much but if you're an active person and sweat a lot then atleast 8 glasses is ok.

People are going to tell you that eight glasses of water are needed, as some research has shown that most people need 64 ounces of water every day (with the assumption that a glass of water holds about eight ounces).

However, this is another urban myth, as people don't include the water that they get in their food, which can be up to about 32 ounces in a day.

The best thing to do is to listen to your body - drink water when you feel thirsty.

it's a habbit to drink 8 glasses a day, but recently people have discovered that this isn't necessary.

Personally I think about 4 to 6 tall glasses should be enough in non-exercising or sweating conditions.

No two people are exactly alike. People have different levels of activity and diet. This affects how much water they need to consume daily. A person that eats a fruit/vegetable rich diet and works indoors needs much less than someone who eats the same diet and works outdoor in the heat.
