Chewing on electrical cords can burn or shock your pet, causing respiratory problems, cardiac arrest and even death. His sharp teeth and inquisitive nature can put him at high risk.
Steps:
1. Tape cords to the wall with electrical tape to help prevent your pet from gaining access to them.
2. Stow excess lengths of cord behind furniture or appliances, hidden from your pet's view. Cats are attracted to dangling cords and may think they are toys.
3. Block access to visible cords by wrapping flexible safety cable (available at hardware stores) around them.
4. Place contact paper, sticky side up, in the general area of electrical cords to discourage your pet from approaching them.
5. Apply unpleasant-tasting substances to exposed cords. These could include bitter apple spray, hot-pepper sauce, menthol, toothpaste, mouthwash or lemon juice. Experiment with different flavors, since pets' taste aversions vary.
6. Have favorite toys available to distract your pet from the cords, and rotate toys every few days to prevent boredom.
7. Keep your pet out of any room with exposed electrical cords until your furry friend loses interest in chewing on them.
Warnings:
Electrical-cord injuries are most common in puppies and kittens, especially when they are first adopted, so be extra vigilant with the young ones when you bring them home for the first time.

There are sprays that you can buy at the pet store that taste really awful. One is called Bitter Apple, but there are several. If you apply to the cords this may discourage your kitten. You could also just apply hot sauce. I have also used strips to cover cords that I bought at the hardware store. I also unplug all the cords I am not using such as the toaster and coffee pot. The good news is that once they're done teething and mature a bit they generally grow out of this behavior. Every time I get a new kitten I always question my sanity. Wendy

when my cat was kitten she chewed thru the elecrical cord for the christmas tree lights. Never chewed any cords again. She survived and is now 13. Guess she learned the hard way. coating the cords can work but you will have to keep put new stuff on them all the time. I suggest getting some toys she may like to chew like straws, and leave them around the house. My cats never play with cat toys, straws, pens, bottle caps ect. Shoe strings and wire cables and be swallowed and tie up their intestines.

Could you get pepper spray and coat the cords? They sell a bottle with bitter tasting stuff in it in the baby (human) aisle of stores like Target and Walmart. It's to encourage kids not to suck their thumbs. Maybe you could put some of this on her favorite electrical cord. After a few times of tasting that, maybe she'd learn not to do so.

Go to a pet store and get some bitter apple spray. You need to put some in the their mouth first ( put it on your finger then in the cats mouth) , then spray or rub this on your cords.
