You earn a commendation in my book for cleaning up after your dog! Most of the people where I live just leave it in the grass for people to step in.

If you're feeding your dog canned food only, try mixing in some dry food. It's worth a try.

well you can freeze it. LOL

The sun bakes it here in SC so I dont have an issue with a squishy poo... so even if I have to pick it up when we are walking its not soft --most likely because my dogs eat dry dogfood and not wet

Garbage in garbage out. You want to find it some nice solid healthy food so it stays together but it also depends on the dog itself and how many times it goes, which in turn, depends on how much and what it eats.

Try feeding it better food or you can give it brown rice mixed with its food. My vet told me to do that for my puppy and it should harden up.
