There are different degrees of public displays of affection. What are your views? Do you agree with all displays of affection? Only some? None? Anywhere in-between? Let's talk about it.

Please indicate where you're from, because not all societies have the same norms regarding public displays of affection (or anything else, for that matter).

Well holding hands for sure and the occasional smooch or peck on the cheek, but lots of french kissing and heavy petting is just inconsiderate and makes people uncomfortable some times. Like why should two people in love have to practically paw the life out of each other in public, there is no reason.

oh and I'm from Canada ah.

I am from Palm Desert, CA, USA and I think some forms of affection are okay in public. Holding hands is okay, a peck on the cheek or a quick kiss on the lips is okay. I would refrain from using the tongue in public, excessive hanging all over my partner, etc. Some of that stuff people just need to get a room for!

I think that some displays of public affection are cute. Old people holding hands...a couple hugging or giving a kiss on the cheek. Aww....those are cute. It becomes un-cute when people are making out in public. If you can picture everything that couple does in the bed room...too much. Basically, anything that you would be willing to watch your parents do is alright in public.

I am from india.

I dont feel its wrong to show affection in public at all. Affection here can be for a child or for a younger one or again even for a pet.

Any such interaction between adults in public - unless within norms of acceptable norms of decency - classifies as Lust and regardless of the society irrespective of the part of the globe - should not be encouraged.

Hi, I am from Malaysia, and even though it's a muslim country, the usual holding hands and occasional kiss on the cheek is ok. Being a chinese, the religious officers pretty much leave us alone, but they are stricter with their fellow muslims. An umarried Muslim man and woman can't even be in the same room! But Malaysia, especially KL, is quite a modern city.

But on a personal view, a bit of expression is ok, just don't get too much and cause discomfort to those around.

OK well I live in Virginia.I think when ppl show there affection for there mate in public there is a line and a lot of ppl do cross it.Like say if I just broke up with my boyfriend and I see two ppl all hugged up and kissing and touching that makes me fee all depressed and stuff. But when I'm with someone I care about and I see the same ppl I pay it no mind and see if i can do better.

I'm from PA....I think holding hands is fine and maybe a very simple peck on the cheek is acceptable but more than that may be inappropriate depending on your surroundings. I'd be more cautious if it were a mall or park with kids around, probably less cautious in a movie theater if it's an R rated movie without kids around and the movie hasn't started yet.
I don't often see PDA's other than handholding around here, and I usually hold my hubby's hand when we're out together.

I think appropriate displays are just fine like kissing, holding hands and hugging is fine it is when you are like groping each other and tongue down the throat that is bad and uncalled for especially if you are around people that are uncomfortable with it. If you feel the need to do that then you need a bedroom or a motel

i assume it would count on how lots affection is being displayed. in the event that they're doing each little thing however the appropriate section i may be somewhat uncomfortable (maximum in all probability working interior the different direction as I especially much constantly have the kiddies with me) yet whilst it rather is something so user-friendly as retaining palms, hugging, palms in each and each others wallet, kissing (from pecking to lip lock), sitting on one yet another's laps, and so on. i may be happy with it. until now I answer the subsequent part of the question permit me inform you I come from a marginally small city the place as much as 3 years in the past homosexuality advance into no longer very public. That being pronounced i'll now answer the 2nd question: My first journey seeing gay reflects of love incredibly occured at a "gay" bar. My pal is a stripper and considered one of her co-workers, "Nicki", is bi. "Nicki" desperate to throw her female pal "Angela" a party there. My pal invited me to return together with her. the 1st ingredient I observed upon entering have been 2 gentleman (in lots the comparable clothing as my father wore whilst he went out), one guy advance into sitting on the different's lap. initially i advance right into somewhat very much greatly surprised because of the fact the 1st theory that went by way of my concepts advance into that of my father. After the preliminary marvel, it rather wasn't any diverse for me than seeing 2 people of the different intercourse sitting interior the comparable style.
