What the Bible says about Menstruation
Leviticus 15:19-30
And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even. And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean: every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean. And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. And if it be on her bed, or on any thing whereon she sitteth, when he toucheth it, he shall be unclean until the even. And if any man lie with her at all, and her flowers be upon him, he shall be unclean seven days; and all the bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean. And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days out of the time of her separation, or if it run beyond the time of her separation; all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she shall be unclean. Every bed whereon she lieth all the days of her issue shall be unto her as the bed of her separation: and whatsoever she sitteth upon shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her separation. And whosoever toucheth those things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. But if she be cleansed of her issue, then she shall number to herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean. And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles, or two young pigeons, and bring them unto the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for her before the LORD for the issue of her uncleanness.

Leviticus 20:18
And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.

Ezekiel 18:5-6
But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right, and hath not ... come near to a menstruous woman.....

Menstruation

2:222 "They question thee (O Muhammad) concerning menstruation. Say: It is an illness, so let women alone at such times and go not in unto them till they are cleansed. And when they have purified themselves, then go in unto them as Allah hath enjoined upon you."

Good God, you are quoting OLD freaking Testament. At this point in history, and only if you are a Bible-Thumping Fundamentalist does any of that actually mean anything. Truth be told, those books we written by old man, in an oppressive society. The worst thing I see in fellow Christians and Catholics is that they do not explore their own faiths, the just suck up and regurgitate what ever they were taught.

Back to the question, people didn't know nor understand what menstration really is. Second, unfortunately, women were always blamed for the downfall of man and partially evil (see Genesis).

Please, remember, its not the God that is the problem, it's the person not thinking that is.

i think of that the Bible is oftentimes taken too actually while it would be seen greater as an analogetic variety of scripture, the place each little thing is up for interpretation. decrease back whilst the Bible advance into written, issues like slavery and inequality for women folk people have been uncomplicated, consequently such subject concerns might inevitably be coated interior the Bible. you need to comprehend that God did no longer write this e book, disciples of his did, consequently it rather is no longer a artwork of finished perfection, and there is guaranteed to be some lines of human errors.

You sure seem to have a lot of quotes from the Bible. Are you copying and pasting them from some website or something? Here's a bit of Bible trivia for you to chew on...

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy (iddāh) rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

iddāh - referring to filthiness, menstruation. It indicates a woman's menstrual period or cloth that was considered unclean.

That's why I'm so glad that I don't have to depend upon my own self righteousness because in his love and mercy God provided me with His righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ, Amen!

Menstral blood is a great carrier of pathogens. Indeed in the absence of modern cleaners and toiletries could make such things most unclean.

I don't know much about the Bible, but re: the Qur'an's take on menstruation:

Later in that Sura, it talks about how men need to love their wifes and be physically affectionate, but not have sex with them while they are on their period.

I don't see anything wrong with that. Its not all that hygenic to have sex while on your period anyway.
