I am presuming that you mean "live" in peace. Did you ever see the episode of X-Files where Mulder finds a Genie and asks for world peace? He winds up being the only person on the planet. A long time ago, there were two brothers (Cain and Able). One killed the other. Even with that low of a population, there is strife. When the Messiah comes back, THEN will there be peace.

Otherwise, it isn't going to happen. Humans are, by nature, competitive and aggressive. Also, they're fighting for a decreasing number of resources.
