It is a symbol of the Anti- christ...the beast. It is said that if you take this number in any way after the rapture that you are not able to go to heaven. I am not sure of what form 666 will be in, but many believe it will be a microchip in the hand or forehead that will be sort of like a credit or debit card. It will be the only way to by groceries and stuff.

..besides the fact 666 is a real number...in the bible, God gives numbers meaning for symbolism...as far as I know:
3 is for emphasis, 6 is for imperfection, 7 is for perfection, and 10 also 12 have meanings like complete, and government.
Maybe someone else can elaborate more with scriptures???
