I've been doing this for at least 40 years. Your keywords are your answer,,"READY TO SELL"
Very likely, no matter what you did/ do, a new owner will want their own visions and ideas incorporated into THEIR new home.
In selling, your best investment is in having everything function properly, total honesty about any issues, and a generic color that allows a view of Light, spaciousness, CLEAN<<
What one LIKES, as your question states, is really irrelevant in your goal. What I like, may not be what YOU like?

Personally, I like the trim to stand out, but it depends on the room. If you have really cool, detailed trim, paint it a different color than the walls so it stands out. Otherwise, I would just paint them the same neutral color in terms of getting it ready to sell. You want the potential buyers to see the potential of the house to be the way they would like it - if you want the trim to stand out, make it stand out, otherwise, don't do too much with it. In my apartment, for example, we have hardly any trim, and it would look weird to paint the trim its own color. Whatever you decide, make sure the paint color/s go with whatever furniture and stuff you already have in the room. If you want more ideas about getting your house ready to sell, the website below (from HGTV's Designed to Sell) has more info of stuff. Good luck!

Actually, the best way to make rooms look bigger is to use a paint 2 or 3 shades lighter than the wall color on the ceiling.
Keep the trim white, though.

The reasons you want to paint your trim and ceilings white, and I always use a bright white, is because it really gives a nice contrast.
It will make your wall color pop. The white trim really makes it look clean and crisp.
Also, if your going to resell your home, remember to stay with neutral colors. I don't mean neutrals like cream or biege, I mean neutrals like taupe, peanut butter, sage, soft gold and even blueish grays are nice.
Hope this helps!

No. I prefer white ceilings and trim and either light or dark colors on the wall depending on the room size.

If you are getting ready to sell, white ceilings and neutral colored walls, warm sand, lite beige, or cream colors, you can always use colors in decorative items, throw pillows, pictures, etc. Pay special attention to bathroom areas and kitchens, updates in these areas will greatly improve the value of the home.

No. I know it is much easier to paint everything the same color but if you want the house to bring the best price, be creative. Just be careful not to make it too far out that most people would hate.

Contrast is good. One wall a deeper color ..but if you are selling, the new owners might not like your choice.
Safer to go with neutrals..off whites, or beige tones.
