keep trying they will do it when they are ready. Best to wait until after 6 months though because of the sterilisation thing.

My daughter is greedy and knew how to suck from a straw at 7 months although she didnt get her sippy cup til 1. Cut the bottle out completely at 1. Just throw them all out and give the baby a sippy cup.....Cut throat thats the only way to do it.

My 1st child stucked from a straw at 5 months. My 2nd is almost a year and still won't. So it's different for every child.

I just gave her a straw and she did it.
Much to my surprise.
No training required, but generally it should be done after the child is past the powdered-milk-and-sterilization thing.

Summer is a good time to introduce it, giving little sips of water in hot weather (when they will want it).

if ur going to start giving ur baby a cup with a straw u should wait till they are more familiar with cups, around 9 months or so, also teach them not to tip their cups since they are used to tipping their bottles and sippy cups.

Babies learn through practice. I'd wait until they are at least 8 months to start practicing, because that's when they have better control of their mouth muscles and better motor skills (so they can hold their cups steady).
