Wondering if any married couple decided to ditch the rat race Corporate World and live a simpler lifestyle. My husband and I work for Fortune 500 Companies (in Chicago) and make a very good living. However, the stress and work politics is rediculous. My husband is 37 and has high blood pressure. It seems like we work, work, and work more to pay bills and keep up with the rest of the folks. We were considering moving to a smaller town someday and try to do things differently. Has anyone had any success stories?

I have a cousin that's married to a man that was a highly successful architect and they used to travel all over the world, had a big beautiful house and cars and expensive clothes and jewerly. One day they gave it up all up and bought an apple orchard in a small town. They drive an old beat up station wagon and wear denim coveralls and flannel shirts and they couldn't be happier. A person can just look at them and see how relaxed and at peace they are. And that's something that money can't buy.

I think leaving a simpler life is much better than a fancy life cos you need to cope with the expenses and the sorooundings. For me, enough money and saving and leaving a good life is more than having a big house and all the wealth and living a cramy life, always busy. It will end up to nothing also.

If you think that yiou have enough to live the rest of your lives then go for it, have time for yourselves and relax. Life is to short to waste, you need to enjoy it or it will be to late. You cna never bring back the time but you can still move further.

I worked with a couple where he had a job in the corporate world and she was a teacher. They both decided that they had had it with the politics etc. so they took a leave..........decided to sail around for two years with their two children. They would send photos each month of all the great adventures they were on.
They came back and said they would never regret taking that time to be with family and to regroup.
