they are very hard to dislodge for one thing, and they can move surprisingly fast back to the scalp. i lived in central Florida for several years with children in public schools, & they were a big problem! my 3rd grader had them 19 times in one school year! we removed the carpet to terazzo floors, put plastic covers on all mattresses & pillows, no stuffed animals or barbies, bed clothes were put into the dryer when we left, & the girls hair was moussed, braided & sprayed, & they would still come home with more. i once put a live adult louse in a capful of Rid & watched it swim to the side & crawl out!

In the north, there are lice that are resitant to NIX, but they remain susceptible to R&C because it is a different ingredient.
Hair straighteners work on the hair not the scalp where lice actually feed, lay eggs etc. The shampoos work on the scalp.
Another effective old time remedy is to wash your hair in kerosene. None of the eggs or lice survive a treatment like that.

If you should be unfortunate to get them rthen whilst you are crazily combing the hair, cover the hair and scalp in loads of conditioner onto dry hair, and as you comb it out the lice get dislodged from the scalp and hair and fall out a lot quicker! trust me it does work, and you just spend time repeating this with the treatments and soon they should be no more!

There are a great many ways to kill headlice. The oldest method is just to shave the head and launder your hats, caps and kerchiefs. Even rubbing alcohol will kill them, but you have to protect your eyes if you're going to use a harsh chemical.

yes...they are resistant to the pesticides that you buy at the store
straighteners won't kill them.....because you can't put the heat on every hair on your head at the same time
olive oil can kill them, and with olive oil there is no dangerous pesticide
just completely saturate your hair with olive oil and wrap it with a head wrap or secure it with a scarf every night for 3 or 4 nights.....its a serious b*tch getting it all washed out every morning, but well worth the effort.
a vinegar and baking soda mixture will dissolve the oil, but afterward you have to shampoo the heck out of it with strong smelling shampoo to get the stink out.
COCONUT conditioner in your hair is said to repel lice...just make sure there is real coconut extract in the conditioner.....dilute it with water in a spray bottle and put some in your hair daily...maybe you won't get lice at all

yes its true. Best way is to painstakingly put a nit comb through you hair with conditioner to help it strip the little buggers and the eggs off your hair. Big pain in the butt, but they never get resistant to that.
