They can't. Not before life rips them a new one.

Here is the answer to both of your questions.

1 Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

They suffer the same spiritual deficit that all idolaters suffer, empty lives.

Idolaters are among the people who will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

People who are obsessed with material things become spirtually devoid. They only see the value in material things, and not in things that transcend the material world. (Like love, happiness, and other non-material things.

They can only be helped when they look for it. In other words, they see the emptiness of their life of material pursuit.

Not sure, but they should cheque their faeces every day just in case there's anything of note in it or if there's any small change.
