Why do you need to compare the bible and the quran?

The rules in the Old Testament dealing with some personal community relations, such as this one, were only for the Israelites. Just as the rule in Deut 25:5 is no longer applicable, this one is also not.

Remember, Jesus changed the rules to : Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you.

Why do you ask this question to Christians? In the Christian religion, this is the old law. The new law (the New Testament) is what we follow. The Old Testament is not the Christian religion. The Christian Religion is what Jesus Christ taught. He fullfilled the old law, by providing the ultimate sacrifice, himself. Now our sins are forgivin when we repent. There are so many stories of how Jesus did away with the old law. Think of the harlot that the men brought to Jesus, and asked what they should do. They wanted justice by the old law, and stone her to death, but the new law was stated let he who has no sin cast the first stone. Then he forgave the harlot and told her to sin no more. So if you have a question towards Christians, concerning why we believe in laws, focus your questions towards the New Testament because that is what we practice.
Peace be with you,
Thomas

These laws were made to create a just and orderly society in context with the time period they were made in.
However Jesus came and fulfilled the law through his death and resurrection therefore there was no longer any need for such punishment for those who follow Him as He took the punishment for the sins of all, but we have to accept this gift of Grace to be saved, just as you have to accept love and forgiveness to truly be loved and forgiven.

The difference with Islam however is that corporal and capital punishment is still practiced and thus Islam actually condemns even its followers.

I will pray the the truth will e revealed to you.

From the Qu'ran

8:12
I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and smite of them each finger.

47:4
Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks until, when ye have routed them, then making fast of bonds; and afterward either grace or ransom till the war lay down its burdens.

Crime and Punishment
Adultery
24:2 "The adulterer and the adulteress, scourge ye each one of them (with) a hundred stripes. And let not pity for the twain withhold you from obedience to Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of believers witness their punishment."

For making war against Allah and his Messenger
5:33 "The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger ... will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom."

Lewdness
4:15 "As for those of your women who are guilty of lewdness, call to witness four of you against them. And if they testify (to the truth of the allegation) then confine them to the houses until death take them."

Stealing
5:38 "As for the thief, both male and female, cut off their hands. It is the reward of their own deeds, an exemplary punishment from Allah."

Where do you get that the woman's husband was being beaten?

It is talking about a fight between two men, and a wife interferes.
All of those minute laws and rules were put into splendid perspective when Jesus said, "Love the Lord, thy God.....love thy neighbor as thyself."

If we all followed His advice, there wouldn't be a fight in the first place.

Thank you jim_darwin. I have been trying to get the truth out about Islam, Muslims and the Quran for a long time.

BTW: Jesus Christ is not in the Old Testament. So please stop refering to Old Testament for questions about Christ and Christians.
The Old Testament is all historical reference about the Jewish and their laws and rules.

Back to Muslims:
The peace and understanding so touted by Islamic clerics, politicians and media is ONLY for other Muslims!!

Don't believe the hype! Read the Quran.

Mohamed always said to destroy anybody who does not believe in Allah.
Jesus always said love and respect everybody.

If I want to give a Muslim a hug and love and he stabs me for that gesture, what did I do wrong?

Well the bible, of course, is fiction and mythology, nothing more. But they seem to feel the need to make it "real" for some bizarre reason.
Try not to worry about them, the vast majority of christians are hypocrites. Taking the good parts of the "wholly babble" (about 3 pages worth) and leaving out what they find distasteful (the rest of it).

So apparently you don't think she deserves to have her hand chopped off because she grabbed the man's testicles and caused him to lose the fight and possible his life.

So you'd be okay with the man losing his life but not her losing her hand?

God will have mercy on whom he will have mercy (Exodus 33:19 and Romans 9:15).

Never look for the Bible to be politically correct.

Reproductive powers a gift from our creator. His original purpose included procreation by perfect humans, who would "fill the earth and subdue it"(Gen.1:28)
God's Law to Israel contained indications of his regard for human procreation. For example,if a married man died before producing a son to carry on his lineage, his brother was to father a son by brother-in-law marriage(Deut 25:5).More to the point, was the law about a wife who tried to help her husband in a fight. If she grasped the privates of her husband's opponent, her hand was to be amputated;significantly,God did not require eye-for-eye damage to her or her husband's reproductive organs(Deut.25:11,12)This law, would clearly endanger respect for reproductive organs;these were not be destroyed needlessly.
