I am from the middle east too, even arabs take part in our celebrations. Countries like UAE, Egypt, Lebanon, Baharain, Oman, Qatar have a number of Christian churches and are quite permissive in allowing ppl to follow their religion. but in some countries, celebrating christmas is a crime, as is conducting worship services.

This is absolutely untrue !
Christians do celebrate their holidays in the middle east as much as they do else where in the world. Xmass is a day off for everybody -whether Christians or Muslims- in Jordan, Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon (as far as I know for the last one).
Muslims congratulate their christian neighbors and friends in their holidays, although they don't beleive in the cause behind them, since Islam askes its followers to show respect to other's beliefs...

well. it's a bit miss understand,
first don't forge that there's Muslims and Christians there so the celebration is aloud of each Muslims and Christians feasts
but.. in Islam it's not aloud for Muslims to celebrate others feasts that's it but it's not a crime , I've seen a lot who hang a tree in his house at Christmas but like ii said in Islam it's forbidden and who is really Muslim he wouldn't do that,,

You are very much mistaken, some middle eastern countries celebrate Christmas with Christians, they even have trees in their Muslim homes, and receive and give presents to and from friends, and go around eating with them on Christmas dinners, and I'm not exaggerating at all. try to visit Jordan at Christmas time.

Depends on the country...and even the area of the country. I lived in Turkey and we weren't allowed to have any displays of Christmas in our homes visible from the street.

THIS is not true..but for some of them congratulating a christian for the new year or christmas is forbidden(haram)...because by doing this they admit the christian faith(this is what they thought)

It would depend on where in the middle east you are .... probably not a lot of "Silent Night" being sung in Iran, that's for sure.
