147 was just a baby compared to the ages of pre-flood people. They lasted for several hundred years, according to the geneologies referenced in Genesis.

I've heard Christian scholars say that the earth was protected by a strata of moisture in the beginning. Someone who knows more than I about scripture would be able to show us where. That ended up being the flood, when it fell.

It makes sense to me that humanity, more directly exposed to the sun's rays, would age more quickly.

I blelieve that the extended life rates are due to Gods need to fill the world with His seed. If you notice in the Bible many individuals lived to a ripe old age up to 400+ years, thus propagating many offspring. Then abruptly God made it known that man will not live as long, since the world had growm fast enough to handle the population for the future generations to come.

Read Buried Alive by Jack Cuozzo. That book will answer all your questions. He is an orthodontist who went to France and studied the bones of Neanderthal man, plus a lot of other fossils. The book does get quite technical because it is written for a medical professional to understand.
