Well, there's a whole book on flags, I think if they're trying to do it to get people riled up, well, it's working, and people now think less of Mexico and Mexicans than since maybe the 1930's. I say 'keep it up, dig the hole deeper', eventually you'll see the OTHER 280 million americans take to the streets, and it won't be pretty...and eventually you won't even be able to buy a burrito in a major american city...this whole thing is stupid, and relates to the United States being expected to absorb Mexico's socio-economic dysfunction, and the price americans are asked to pay in terms of the long-term degradation of their communities. Mexico needs to 'fix its' bad', and do an equally thorough job of policing THEIR side of the border....clear out the 10 miles closest to the border line, and have their own cops/military there.
Of course, let's take a moment to reflect on OUR componememnentnenentnement of the responsibility on the border. F'rinstance, the DRUG TRADE. Mexico would not be notorious as a giant drug lab unless there was a market for those drugs. Well, that market is IN america, and part of it is Mexico deciding to capitalize on our prohibition laws. Remember moon-shiners? Meet Mexico. So, talk to your state legislator about some of the drug laws that cause what should be a victimless local social problem into an international problem, because if people were doing like they probably would end up doing anyway, growing and smoking their own pot at home, there probably wouldn't be this giant market for imported drugs from Mexico, and hence no drug-runners, etc etc etc. Cause, and effect.
People are gonna get high. Take away the normal drugs, and they'll head for the paint section. Take that away, and they'll call Jose on speed-dial to bring them something. We have pizza delivery, we've got drug delivery. Both are worth billions...you can talk morality and law enforcement all day long, but there's a central component called 'human nature' that needs to be factored in, here, and I'm no true believer in the incorruptibility of law enforcement, either. When the cops themselves are getting high, city mayors are caught either holding or something with money etc., it makes you wonder about the integrity and forthright honesty of the whole business. Bottom line is, the whole deal with Mexico is about money. Figure out where the money's going, who's doing what to/for whom and for how much, and the rest of the pieces should fall into place...I vote for legalization, by the way, because that would pretty much be the end for the gangs...no drug money=no problems...

Like the other user said, there IS a law for how flags are flown on a public building in relation to the American flag.
To pass a law restricting only Mexican-Americans from flying their country's flag violates every freedom of speech and self expression that this country has faught so hard to preserve and promotes segregation and racism... an ugly part of our history that we have been striving to change for decades.

No, it should not be illegal for anyone to flag their countries flag in the United States. Our country was built on immigration and freedom of speach and the diversity of people. The only exception, in my opinion, is if the flag that is being displayed is from a country that we (the United States) are currently at war with. If our country has declared itself agaisnt another governement, then any display of that country should be banned. However, that's just my opinion and, in fact, being the great place to live that this is, you can still fly a flag from that country as well...
So, in answering your question...
First of all, the mexican flag is not ugly... Mexico is are neighbor and we should respect their culture and history just as we respect ours (same is true of Canada).
Second, I have no problem with any Mexican person entering our country and establishing themselves as an American... as long as it is done LEGALLY. If there is a problem with Mexico, it's with the illegal immigrants. We need to tighten up the border and lock down those bean-eating wetbacks. I understand they are not happy; life sucks, deal with it. If they aren't happy with their government, they need to rise up and take their country from their government.. like WE did... only then will they establish themselves a country that they can be happy with. I'm sure the US would be happy to offer aide to their revolution and help them in their conquest...
Better yet, we should buy Mexico.
Then the illegal immigrants wouldn't have anywhere to go! They'd already live in the United States.
God Bless America.

There have been too many Americans who have gone to war for the people here and for our country to be mocked with a flag from a different country. There have been too many Americans who have DIED for the rights of the people of this country. Think of the MIAs and POWs. I am really surprised with the no answers on this string.
When these clowns marched in the streets flying their disgusting flag, they were trying to degrade America. They came across like they wanted to take over, not assimilate. THIS IS AMERICA. Only the American flag should be flown, not some plain red, white and green rag like the Mexican flag.
Enterrator, you have me confused with your mother Maria. She probably has like 20 ninos, right. I don't. Who is the "ho" as you stupidly put it? Thank you for making my point that you and people like you are pure trash. Please stick that dumb flag of Mexico up your culo chicko. pandejo.

First of all, there is law for this. No offical building may raise the flag above and to the right of ours and such.
But for private property, that is their free speech right. However, it does tell the community what their vote for the future of that community is. You can be Whatever-American you want, but when you drop the American part, that's when there is a serious problem.

HAHAHAHA, Americans Only? Or do you mean White People only, cause i was born here so I'm an american, idiot. Sure let's take away peoples freedom of expression, let's start by taking away Yahoo Answers where people express what they think. After that, only the bible will be tought at schools. After that, we all have to wear the same kind of clothes, by your logic it's ok to take away freedoms that this great nation grants us... you're a dumbass.
Look at Princess 29 71's answer, she is stupid because the military is very diverse, it has so many cultures of people in it. All these people go to war and risk their lives, they all come from different races and backgrounds. They defend this country and love it, they also love their roots and history. She is a stupid HO.

Other countries do fly their own flags in the USA, but they do it in the proper way and definitely NOT in protest of this county's laws. If legal Mexican-Americans wish to fly it and keep it peaceful and do not do it in protest to our laws, culture or heritage and respect this country and it's legal citizens, do not place it above ours or on taxpaid government buildings, I have no problem with it. The Irish show their flag on St. Patrick's day, it is not in protest to the USA, however.
Those flying their country's flags should keep in mind where they are, what our fine country has to offer and why they came here. If they can't abide by our laws and respect our people they need to go fly their flag in their own country of origin.

Enterrador, now you did it. We have one flag, guess what? It's not the Mexican flag either. In case you didn't know it, it is red, white and blue. Princess's answer makes more sense than yours does. You are typical and true of your race in that you only have the brains to name call and can't use any reason. I don't think that she looks like a piece of garden equipment at all. You did say ho, right? FyI, I'm a veteran. Myself and people like me have fought bled and died so that your cowardly butt can sit in front of your screen and type racial slurs. You're welcome for the freedoms you enjoy but have NEVER payed for. Do you have a greencard or visa? Who forged it for you? LEAVE MY COUNTRY, DO IT NOW..GET RESPECTFUL OR SHUT UP

Americans are all those people that live from Canada all the way down to Chile. As you might have notice America is the name of the whole continent..you know..the New World as it was known back in the days. It's funny to see how people from the US uses the word "American" to describe themselves...lol... In Spanish we do have a name for people from the US.."Estado Unidenses" which means people from "Estados Unidos" (United States)
The rest of us Americans have a name for example:
People from Mexico: Mexicans
People from Cuba: Cubans
and so on.....
This is America:
Canada, USA, Mexico = North America
Honduras,El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica and Belize = Central America
Colombia, Ecuador,Brazil,Peru,Bolivia,Argentina,Uruguay,Paraguay,Venezuela,Guyana,Suriname,French Guiana and Chile = South America

No. I think it depends on how it is flown. There is nothing wrong with celebrating your heritage on Cinqo de Mayo or St. Patricks Day or whatever. However, anything flown in a militant anti-American manner carries that message.
I think freedom of speech needs to be protected. I think we just need to protect our border and enforce our laws so the ones here are ones we want to have here.
