Well first off let me say thank you for all that you do and that your sacrifices and hard work is very much appreciated . I view our military as being true heros. Secondly, I have to say that after responses that I recieved on my questions that I posted as to why we are so quick to get defensive when someone gives a personal opinion on this war, when in fact we live in a counrty that says we are entitled to freedom of speech and our own beliefs , it almost makes me think twice about answering this but you asked a fair question and Im going to give you my OPINION, in which by no means do I feel says that anyone else opinion is wrong but rather just different than mine. I am on the AKO and speak to a lot of soldiers on a daily basis. Some believe in what we're doing and a few don't. What I have found is that no matter what they believe they are proud to be called a United states soldier. I personally feel that this war is right. We have dealt with terrorists and know enough to know that if you don't send a strong , firm message that terrorism will not be tolerated than they will just keep coming back. I think that this should've been resolved while George Sr. was in office but hey better late than never. I am saddened by all of the deaths but I know that in war there is always sacrifices and as sad as it is it is also a reality. My heart goes out to every family who has had loss through this. It is a terrible thing to ever lose someone that you love, I know this by experience , not just because it sounds like the right thing to say. I am proud of our troops and what they have accomplished over there. Most people tend to focus on the bad that the media is so quick to put out there but noone seems to see the good things. That would be too easy and really would'nt make much of a story for the 11 o'clock news. You troops have gave these people a start to a life that we as american enjoy on a daily basis and so often take for granted. I being a female and knowing the how women there were treated take this very seriously. If I were in a country that was ran that way I for one would hope that someone would help me to become free. I guess that my view on this war comes from a lot of reasons. What I am absolutely certain of though is that no matter what anyones personal view on this war is they should support our soldiers because they did not ask to be there, they are just doing a job that they swore to do.

The UN seems to have forgotten that in it's original mandate it is stated that some times force is the only answer. Julius Ceaser said if man had no use for wars we would no longer have them.
The UN gets bogged down in talk while the people it is supposed to protect die. The dictatorships run the Human Rights Organisation. Country votes in the general assembly can be bought cheaply. The UN's record on the Rwanda massacre and the personal culpability of Kofi Annan for those hundred of thousands of deaths is known.
Whatever the reasons for the war in Iraq. It is clear that Saddam had no regard for human rights. Without the no fly zone the Kurds in Iraq would have been killed from the air. Iraq and Iran have used chemical weapons on each other, which is against the Geneva conventions. Iraq in the first war, kidnapped foreigners to use as human shields.
The UN steps were pathetic. The UN oil for food embargo was ineffective and corrupt. The only times that Iraq allowed arms inspectors to do their jobs was when direct force was threatened.
I support the war and the overthrowing of the Hussein family. The situation there now is an improvement. But Iraq has not yet been secured. I feel sorry for the forces in Iraq because they are in a confused position. They are fighting car bombers and snipers and at the same time they are not fighting an organised army. The lack of direction from the top must be sapping morale.
The US won the peace after WWII through the Marshal Plan and committment. After the ward Germany was a military run country - until a civilian government was installed. The peace in Iraq is not going to be won unless the US gives the same kind of committment. Iraq is being used as a political football which is wrong. The US is looking for a quick fix to what is a long term problem.
Martial law should have been declared, the military governer of Iraq should be running the country on his own responsibility until the civilian government is ready to take over.
The war was over too quickly and the opposition forces should never have been allowed to regroup the way they have. POW camps should have been set up and the enemy combatants sorted into killers and clerks. The killers should have been tried and sentenced and the rest of the army used in the rebuilding process.
Iraq will be worse off if the US army leaves now. Democracy is like a delicate plant that needs to be staked for a few years before it will survive on it's own.

I've supported our troops ("Thank You" to all of them!) since day one. Things have certainly gotten better since Zarqawi's death. It's too bad that here at home, there are so many people/organizations speaking against the war. It seems that when anything bad happens to U.S./Coalition troops, the Democrats have a big celebration. I don't think the Allied forces would've won WWII if all this garbage had been going on then. I think the troops should be strong since we have a Commander-In-Chief that has a back bone to do something about problems in the world community and not one who's busy getting a BJ and redefining 'is'. Godspeed!

while i support my troops 100% i don't support the war. Its not right that our men and women are loosing there lives for another country. I understand that Iraq needs to be-rebuild and i give my troops props for helping, but the fact that your loosing your lives, its not worth it. If my troops could go to Iraq and help re-build with no loss of life (but the occasional accident) then i would be all for it. But why try to rebuild Iraq when there has been a life long war going on over there?

First of all, I thank you for serving your country. It is always honorable to be of service to your fellow countrymen and women. That being said, I do not believe that invading Iraq was a necessary move on our part. Saddam Hussain was a tyrant and a war criminal (Kuwait) but he needed to be handled by the world community not just the US. We will now be embroiled in this mess for the forseeable future and I don't believe anything will change in that part of the region. This is a cultural and religious war between the region of the Middle East and the West. I don't believe that anyone can win that war.

Islam demands loyalty to ones u . s . a .. If a Muslim is prepared to stay in a definite u . s . a ., they must be prepared to safeguard that u . s . a .. If what that u . s . a . is doing is so offensive that the Muslim feels they won't be able to safeguard it, then they ought to leave the country. even however, to stay in a rustic and luxuriate in its reward, on an identical time as criticizing the country and wishing for its downfall, is thoroughly hypocrtical and unislamic. The Prophet (sa) taught loyalty to ones u . s . a ., relatively if that u . s . a . facilitates religious freedom. As an American Muslim, I vehemently disagree with usa's wars against Iraq. even however, i might sit down right here and luxuriate in some great reward of usa and say i does not be prepared to safeguard it. that would make me a hypocrite and against Islam. love for all, hatred for none

I do believe the war was a mistake but I think leaving now would be even a bigger mistake.
I haven't heard yet a legitimate reason for the invasion of a sovereign country and leaving now would send the country into a major civil war.
On the plus side, you guys over there are doing your country proud. Protecting your country is one of the most honourable things you can do.Keep your head down and be careful. There's a lot of nutcases out there that really hate the west.

As a Veteran, I say thank you for your service.
I support the war, and if you are there, been there, or are being deployed, I salute your courage and commitment.
Those who oppose the war, and/or military, are exercising their constitutional right of free speech, and as long as they commit no treasonable or seditious acts, they are harmless.
One can only wonder if they realize that the individual warrior has no say in where he or she is ordered to serve. One also wonders if they are so intelligent that they can pick and choose which war to oppose or support. The World doesn't always present moral certitudes, nor does it always present conflicts where there is time to sit and ponder, "is this moral or not".
Finally if folks don't support our current military actions, and those who choose to serve a "blessed" Nation by combat service, do they serve their Country by other "productive" means?
Check out some other countries in the World, if you think its better there, move your sorry a**es there.

I am the mother of 3 children, and the # one thing I feel is fear about the war. I wonder if it is a war that can be won. I think about the tragedy that many are facing, both locally and nationally. I pray for the safe return of our troops and the day this is over.....I just wish it could be soon. So many lives are being affected.
