If they are good to the dog, love the dog, and the dog seems happy-let the dog stay, so you don't disrupt his/her life again. I know it 's harsh- but after that long, the dog really has settled in. You're a good person.

I would make sure the dog was safe. You are in an unstable situation. Unless you are retiring, you unfortunately could get called up again. I live near an air force base and some soldiers don't get to be home for more than 4 months. Hate to say that. Just depends on what you do. -- let the dog stay somewhere stable until your life settles down. When you get in a position to have a dog again, hopefully we won't go to war.

Mcghankathy's right...The best thing for a dog you love in this situation is to let it be stable. Now if it isn't happy there take it back pronto... Oh and Thank youI hope you're safe and sound and that you know how much we appreciate you...ANd if you're ever in San Diego, Dinner's on me! (you can email me) My kid's and I would be honored....
