Yahoo Community guidelines say:
Rule #8
"USE ENGLISH ONLY: Please do not use other languages or symbols. Also, spelling and grammar count! Be sure to check your spelling and grammar, as content that is unreadable due to excessive typos may also be deleted."
There is NO excuse for not using spell check, other than laziness, stupidity and ignorance.
There should be a penalty for ignorance, like cutting off their legs or something.
Others on here claiming to be so educated and rich, get real, you are a liar, posting under at least two different account/id's, one male and one female, take out your frustrations about your gender identity issues on some one that cares about anything you say, you cross dressing freak!

Define "minor misspelling or grammar mistakes". If a post is incomprehensible, it's not unreasonable to point that out and it is NOT the same as avoiding a question.
If you mean errors like yours ("minor _spelling_ or grammar mistakes"), I let it slide even if I don't like them.
However, those who choose not to write like a thinking human being deserve no respect:
- "I got give my gril a prezent. Why shoudl I get her?"
- "F u cn reeed dis, ur speln' izn 2 gud"
"Phone text" posters are inept morons and should have their computers taken away from them.
Additional:
Nice, "pangolin", but impact is a noun. Try "affecting". ^_^

They are trying to be the class clown while the teacher is out of the room so to speak. If people are doing that they still should provide a decent answer. It's not called "Yahoo! Insults" or "Yahoo! Spellcheckers Club" and MOST OF ALL, it is NOT called "Yahoo! Unsolicited Advice." And by the way, you meant "TO err is human." LOL SORRY!!! Just exploiting you right now. I am very ashamed, be assured. (hanging my head...walking away...sighing)
Later! Great [and very necessary] question!! ;-D

Frequently, the misspellings alter the meaning of the question: for example, I saw a questions about "fowl language", and exercise impacting your "mussels".
Minor typos are usually ignored. txt msg typng is annoying.
And for your benefit:
When they don't have *a* strong argument (avoid use of double negative) and
"To err is human"
Too means "also" and error is a noun, not a verb.
Did you even go to school?

They're probably either trying to help educate the poster, or may even have OCD where they feel compelled by their illness to point it out. There are some common errors that drive me absolutely bonkers, but I never correct the people on it. Examples: incorrect use of to/too, your/you're, there/their/they're, or the countless ways of messing up the word "definitely" (definetly, defiantly, difinetly, etc.)

Insulting others is rude! But I do get frustrated when I read a poorly written question because they are hard to understand - spell check is at everyone's disposal. I may occasionally correct and tease, but I never insult.

Minor spelling errors are bound to be made. The terrible thing is to have somebody remind you about rules. My, my, my, I have used child psychology and have really gotten a certain person edgy, so edgy, cheating is the name of his or her game.
Never worry, all intelligent people know what you are saying. Even former policemen have problems with trying to judge others, thinking he or she is smarter than anyone, with a chip on his or her shoulder. As for me, I don't need to win at this silly game, I am already rich !!!!!!! . I also have several degrees and speak seven languages. But with that said; people make mistakes in every one of the seven languages.

There are too many perfectionists in the world.. they have correct to make sense of their world... let's face it nobody's perfect, okay? To err is human, but to keep erring and being erroneous all the time is just being sloppy and careless..
