yap, couple of times. I used to know a lady from Thailand who loves to cook, especially som tham and tom yum.
Som tham is kind of papaya or paw paw salad, usually served spicy, with abit of lime juice and fish sauce. You can add peanut and shrimp paste for stronger Asian taste.
We normally eat it as snack with sticky rice. Yummy....
(My taste buds are dancing already)

Yes. Seems to be Thai lady favourite food. My girlfriend likes it alot and eats it most days. I like it too and will share with her. Tried a few types of som tam already, especially the spicy ones!

ok - you want a story

there is a lady who makes Som Tam in my village - and I was not in the mood for spicy at all - so, I told her in Thai - "Don't put in any chili peppers" - and when she gives me the Som Tam it has some specs of red.. so, I asked her if she put in any chili peppers and reminded her that I didn't want any.. She answered surprised, "I only put in one"..

I guess for her, it was like asking for a cheeseburger without the cheese.. - she didn't charge me - she is my wife's aunt..

Yes, delicious!
It can be very spicy if you want it to be.
The dry shrimp and peanuts can really add the flavor! Especially the crab variety!
It is interesting that people can use papaya, mango, carrot, apple and perhaps other papaya substitutes.
Yum....getting hungry again!
Check out some pictures below. It will make you salivate!
