Even if the belief is presumed to have come from the Catholic Church, it is subject to subsequent reforms as introduced by St. Augustine and Thomas Acquinas. Many of the Christians know much more than what you know about their community and its long history.

Many how call themselves Christians don't even read their bible, and know it, why would they take them time to learn about their denomination.
I know a bit about the history of the church and about faith the 2 are not always the same. Do you know why there was the slip with the Catholic Church. Many felt the the Catholic Church kept the word of Gord from the people and didn't teach them the true word of God. They believe that the leadership of the church used them for different reasons, money, power, control. Many churches today do the same thing (which is not of God). Many deaths have been blamed on the church, it is also blamed for hate and many other things.
When the church become more about self than it is about the Love of Christ then the church has fallen. I believe that many denominations have fallen prey to losing their way and putting themselves before God.
The earily church was just called the body of Christ, read the book of Acts (not Cathloic) Denominations are mans way to divide Gods people and water down the Word of God. There is still only one true church and it is as it was the Body of Christ.

You are right. There was one church but it got away from teaching the Bible. The Catholic church began adding on "works" and paying money to get your family into heaven.
Martin Luthur began what is called "The Reformation". He was reading his Bible and found out that the Catholic Church was not teaching correctly. So, he began to be vocal about changing the church.
It deeply saddened him that some became violent and began to destroy the church's architecture.
His idea was that the Catholic Church would change their teachings to line up with what the Bible really said.
The Catholic Church refused, and because of that they still teach error .... and we have Protestants.
Unfortunately, many Protestants now teach error and teachings that don't embrace the Bible. This is to their shame....but there are still a few. I fully expect a split in the Episcopal denomination because of the recent events that are going on in that denomination.
The Bible teaches that there is ONE TRUE CHURCH. This church is an invisible church and it is a combination of many, many, denominations. It consists of all TRUE believers.

Because the history of denominations are never taught only scriptures & stories. Many of the teachers know that if they began to expand into the history, that their religious beliefs could be proven false. In other words causing their pupils to not believe in a particular religion or seek answers from another. And yes the history should be taught it's just not as important as the actual documentation that is to be followed like the Bible.

Sweetheart I promise you-you have been deceived. The Catholic church is the biggest pseudo-christian cult in the world. Just because it is old does not make it right. There are many good (and bad) churches out there that would be much better for you. If you were raised catholic it will be harder for you to see it. I am sorry to tell you this-I do not desire to hurt your feelings, but Catholicism is the super highway to hell.

Most would not see a parallel between what their founders originated and what their denomination has become.
The mother of harlots in Revelation has daughters. Those daughters have behaviors similar to the mother. For example forgetting the Sabbath (the only command that contains the word "remember").

Among the norms of this life that the number of those knows is much less than those do not know.
And those do not know enjoy being the sheep that follow its Sheppard.
But if any would know that we shall be judged as individuals and that believing in something not of any good on Judgement day, then this would encourage them to really try to verify.
But because people hate to learn(costs), your comment is very world-wide comment

I really don't think the history is as important as what is being taught and learned. I ask myself is this pastor a pastor of God's own heart? God said he will sent pastors of his own heart. Am I being fed spiritually? Is the message being taught biblically correct? Is the love of Christ in this church?

Before you ask that question you should realize that being Catholic is a form of Christianity, they are not separate.

Lemme see, I am a person, but, I dont necesarily have to know the "reproductive system and process" for being born, and produced, and my genetic back ground, or all that silliness...
As long as people are "Saved", whats the difference if they "know", or dont know?
I dont need to know the history of an apple, that I eat, in order to enjoy it...
I am happy that the LORD died for my Sins, and FORGAVE ME of all my SINS!!!
I LOVE THE LORD!!
I wish you well..
