Very much so.
They where viewed as prity much worthless with out a husband, and only then to serve god and there husband.
Nuns and other religous women where the only acception and they where still veiwed as being of less worth than your avrange man.
Thankfully modern culture has kind got the church to turn away from that part of the bible and they don't try and act on it anymore.... heck many curch members don't even know it's the case.

First, the role of women n life was not minimized in religions, yet Men interpretation is the one that minimized the role of women.
Second, In Islam man and woman are the foundation of the society and both are needed.
Third, History till to date proves that women have played a great role in life and there are the scientists, doctors and teachers and even judges so how can they extend their built-in abilities.
Also, History and till to date, men really get offended by women success even if they did not publicly change that.
Furthermore, men are the ones who discriminated others based on sex, color and race although in Islam God states clearly that “Man and woman has equal rights and responsibilities” as on Judgment day each will be judged as an individual not as their sex, color or even race.
I am a Muslim and I am a man.

i believe its possible. The council of nicea were the ones to cannonize the books of the bible. How do we know they were really directed by god to put in the right stuff ? I dont think the bible minimizes a woman, however it just gives the woman a different yet equal role

In ancient Rome women were considered kids unable to ever grow up. Love was not mentioned in the marrige certificate. The woman was something like a property and was usually a subject of violence from her husband.
But in this climate true Christians were commanded to love their wives. So was the role of woman "minimized"...?

No, I don't think so. Womens role covers a lot. Most women can make thei own choices about what role they want to paly and how many. And, yes I am a Christian, but this question down't irritate me though. You have arightto your own questions. As for going to Hell, there may be hope for you yet! :)

Women were "minimized" by man's misinterpretation of the Bible/Church. Women are as important in the evolution of Providence as men, and they both require one another to evolve. They complement one another to further the world, and evolution.
Selfishness and Pride has unfortunately obscured the role of women throughout time.
On a personal note, I appreciate all you women. Hang in there!

As a Roman Catholic, I can point to the teachings about Mary the mother of Jesus and say emphatically no. In the gospels Mary is the first Christian. She is the first one to say yes to Christ entering in her life. And she was present at the foot of the cross in the gospel of John.
The church then names her as the model for all Christians men and women. In other words, she best demonstrates what it means to be a Christian. Everyone can learn from her example.

I think the Bible assigns different roles to each male and female. Even in nature, the male animal has a different role than the female.
