If the belief of Jesus and following the Christian God's rule etc is the only way to get into heaven, what about all those people who lived BEFORE Jesus was born? Did the pre-Christian Jews get into heaven, but not anyone else? There were thousands of years of humanity before Jesus, what happened to the souls of the people who died before He was born? What about all the stoneaged people and stuff who lived even before Judasim? Did they all go to Hell cause no one knew about the Christian God, the devil, and Jesus? Did heaven and hell exsist before people started to worship the Christian God?

This is very Interesting question and I should refer to Quran to tell us because it is something in the past.

God say" To each group(nation, race, etc) we sent a messanger" That means that there were messangers before Jesus as Ibrahim and Noah and Mouses.

The purpose of this is simply God knows that people forget and divert from the right path so they should be updated as well as no one on Judgment day would claim that "No one told me".

God say" Who believes in God as the one and the only and do good, should expect heaven".

God did not state any particualr religion, yet what we understand in Islam is that
- Religion as constitution has been the same since Adam.
- Rules has been frequently updates as God reliefed much of the obligations over the years such as (How many you should pray and how long do you fast and what food is forbidden, etc).

So on Judgment day what will happen is the following:
- The messanger and its people will attend before God. People will testing before God that this messanger did deliver the God words. Then, people will be judged based on what this messanger delievered.

Finally, Each messanger informs about the coming messanger and gives discription for him so that the true believers of this messanger if they live till the new messanger comes, they ought to believe in him and his new book.

Maybe Jesus was just one way God devised to get more believers. Maybe Jews were already true believers. Maybe God is manifested in many different ways to meet the needs of many different people. When you realize there is more in common with most religions of the World than differences, maybe there are just different paths leading to the same entity and people chose the one that brings them the most comfort. Assuming, of course, that they believe in a God at all. There is nothing that turns me off more than to hear one religion or preacher put down other beliefs, as if they personally have all the answers and were anointed as the sole spokesperson for God. Self-righteousness is a turn off.

The Bible is quite clear on it. No one could go to heaven before the cross, because sin was not atoned for. Souls who died before Jesus went to a place called Hades. Hades was divided into two sections with "a great gulf" between them. One side was called Paradise or "Abraham's Bosom" and the other side was call Sheol, a place of torment. They remained there until Jesus died and when He died and atonement for sin had been made Jesus went to Hades and when He left three days later, he took all those who were in Paradise with Him to heaven. Now Christians who die can go immediately to Heaven to be with Christ. All non believers still go to Hades (Sheol) and will remain there until the Great White Throne judgment mentioned in Revelations. There is no one in Hell right now because the final judgment has not taken place.

The same thing that has always happened to people and always will.

Beliefs do not alter reality and there is no heaven or hell.
