It is a tricky situation as the person who has stolen the money iwont accept that under any circumstances . But u have to stop ti so a better way is to make him feel secure in all ways and make him feel that he is an integral part of the family and he does not have to steal anything in his own house as everything belongs to him .

Let it go
just be more careful where you leave your money from now on
Perhaps he was in some kind of trouble and really needed it, consider it helping a family member out and since you really cannot prove anything, and just think you 'know' who did it..as I said, let it go..

I would confront them before whipping their butts. But for real, If I know that they gotten the money. I would confront them about it and ask them to pay it back. If they refuse. I would call the police to see what they could do. If they couldn't do any thing. I wouldn't take them to small claim court.

There's nothing much you can do unless you can prove it.But as you do suspect that person I'd stay clear of that person and keep an eye out....people who do things like that sooner or later make mistakes..then you'll know for sure!

Actually, I've been in this situation, my Uncle, who is 10yrs older than me, is a herion addict, in and out of jail, etc.
I didn't do anything, and he called and apologized to me, and said he'd left my rings(what it was he stole from me)and I said I understood we make mistakes, I loved him, and said I don't know what I'd do if it happened again.

If a family member of mine stole money from me, I don't care if it was one of my children, mother, father sibling, cousin or whatever, they'd go to jail. Everyone that knows me, knows they don't have to steal from me. if they need something and I have it, I'll give it to them. They don't have to steal from me.

You should not keep your money visible.
Put it in a safe place. You have to blame your self for your foolishness, instead of blaming him.
From this time onwards, never leave your money visible to any one.
The money tempts any one. Keep it in a safe place always.
You have to take care.
