Really? What's the point?

We abandoned him, huh?

Did all the Jews who perished in Auschwitz abandon God, too? Or did he abandon them? Was he there for the Jews in their darkest hour? Did God just want more Jews in heaven? Not to mention all the people that Stalin killed and several other notorious world leaders. Where was God in all their darkest hours? I suppose only the ones that perished know the answer to that. Think about it.

Maybe he's not real. Is that a fair assumption?

God, in terms of the God defined in the Torah, the Quran, the Bible... that god does not exist. The chance that those ancient stories are ture, many of which are patently ridiculous and certainly do not appear to record the acts of a loving god, is pretty much zero.

I believe in... something. I believe all life is tied together is amazing, fantastic ways we can hardly conceive us. I do not believe life is a strange accident, nor that what we do doesn't matter. It certainly matters in terms of our impact on the part of the human experience we are in contact with.

I believe senseless deaths, like the ones you mention under Hitler, Stalin, or any of dozens of other tyrants and killers, are simply the result of mortal men committing horrible crimes against their brethren. They are not acts of god, nor are they acts against god. If there is a benevolent deity responsible for our creation, it certainly hasn't been very active around here lately.

Walt Whitman said, "And to die is different from what any one supposed, and luckier."

I think he was on to something. It will certainly be different than most people suppose, especially where "most" are those enthralled with an organized religion. (With the exception of non-theistic religions, such as Buddhism.)

Luckier...? Probably. If we kept our sense of "self" after death, we would probably quickly go mad. So, quoting Walt again, "Look for me under your boot-soles".

I personally believe our energy will continue, probably in a non-sentient manner, eventually returning to a life form. Will it be "me" again, in a different consciousness? Who knows. Maybe I'll float around and become part of a star. Maybe I'll return as a grasshopper. One thing is certain... we'll all get to find out. And if the lights go out, that's alright. We go to sleep every night and lose consciousness happily enough. It's just a... longer sleep. ;)

If God is as dumb as the believers... one can understand that he would be a racist and so the comfort with violence? Or may be he is just evil...

For some reason no amount of tragedy seems to effect the faith of people hung up on believing... they will just replay the recorded message about the love and care of God and how man is responsible for bad and god for the good.

The scale of violence that the world has seen should have made any thing with a conscience shudder... But no... 'God has a plan' !!

I think if we do not use our own faculties and grow over our self imposed imbecility... we are doomed... The believers will still say this was all Gods plan!

He is in the process of reproducing himself. He established humans on this planet to live a temporary chemical existence and he offered his Son as a sacrifice to prevent us from having to perish (John 3:16).

Abandonment?

Who moved first?

It was humans who abandoned God first (Judges 21:25).

If we love God we will keep his commandments (Deuteronomy 11:22).

Most in today's world don't even try to keep God's commandments.

That is the short answer.

I am 17 years old right now, I'm Armenian and I live in United States, Ca.

When it comes down to this subject I am very confused, I have my own theories and yet at the same time I belive in other things

If God does exist, I feel that he did not leave us and we did not leave him, I think he set us free on a journey to become dependant good people of this world on our own. Even if he doesn't show himself for millions of years who is to say a million is a long time? Some creatures live for only days and to them a minute is so precious and to most of us, a minute is just a minute.

I think we were created just to "be"

He didnt abandon us, we abandoned Him. But he provided a way for us to return to Him through Jesus Christ.
God knows what he's doing, He is working all things together for good to those who love Him.
People suffer because of the evil in the world, which has happened through humans abusing their free will. Those who have died who knew God, such as under Hitler and Stalin, will e with Him in paradise for eternity.

"Besides purification, incarnation has a second and no less important function. It allows spirits to perform their proper share in the work of creation. To accomplish this work, the spirit takes on bodily form; a form that enables it to function in the environment in which it is called to live. Under these conditions, the spirit benefits doubly. It contribute to the universal good through performing its own special work, and at the same time, ti furthers its own advancement through the process of purification"
---------------------------------------
The work of the universe is served by the actions if incarnate spirits. Wisely, God has also willed that this action should furnish spirits with the means of advancement through which they will eventually come into the Divine presence. As a result of this admirable law of Providence, all things are interconnected, and unity is established among nature's different realms.

Well I think God never abandoned us. He is still here. He was always here since, forever, basically. He watches down on us to see if we do what is moraly correct on earth. For those who have good morals and respect his exsistance enter heaven.

Of course the details are mentioned in a Holy Book. (ex. Quran, Bible, Torah, etc..) All these books tell you to obey him right? and do what is good on earth.

I think God gave us a soul, to decide whats right from wong.
If the the Holy Books tell you to do all of what is right, what is good. then why not follow it? right?

If your agnostic, or atheist or something i encourage you to read Holy Books like these and i think you'll see for your self that god didn't abandon us.

sorry if i helped? hope i didn't offend you.

Well your question is so profound so in connection with my own interrogations. The more I ask myself the more I'm convinced of His non existence. Do you think innocent children abandonned God and if so do you think they deserved those cruel deathes. I always thought that if one abandons God it is because God as He is God allows this person to abandon Him.

What makes you the most happy? Have you ever loved anyone? Parents, siblings, significant other, friends? It's ALLabout people, everything else is just fluff. People are what matter. So why wouldn't God create us. Haven't you ever wanted a family? God wants us to be happy. It's what makes him happy. He's let us come here and get bodys and have families, and doesn't it make sense he would want us to become like him.? He is letting us make out own choices. He's provided a way, but sometimes it feels like he just left us. He has to let us make our OWN choices if we ever want to be happy. Everyone can find truth, pray for it. It just may come find you.If you want answers I know people who can give them to you that can even come talk to you in person. If you wanna ask me anything or are in the least bit interested in understanding the void you feel in your life, email me. Knowing what I know is the greatest gift I have ever had in my life. I'm willing to share it with you if you want it.

In response to what you recently added to your question; Of coarse bad things are going to happen. People have their choices. If God stopped every bad thing people did, we wouldn't have much of a choice in life. You can't have a choice without opposition. What kind of a God would live our lives for us?
