My husband and I have been to Aruba 12 times since 1995. Guess you can tell we love it there?

I have traveled throughout the Caribbean, not every island mind you, but quite a varied sampling and I can say that Aruba offers the best of what we are interested in.

The biggest attraction for the island imho, is the fact that there are beautiful white sand beaches with calm waters as well as guaranteed weather. By guaranteed weather, what I mean is that Aruba is a desert island and receives on approx. 28 inches of rain per year. If you are looking for "lush and tropical" then Aruba is NOT the place for you. When you are spending $$$ on a vacation, you do not want to spend your time in your hotel room because it is raining. I did that once in Puerto Rico and said never again...

Two other big attraction for my husband and I is that fact that we feel safe. Yes, we take the same precautions as we do at home. Walk in well lit areas at night, leave valuables at home or at least in the safe in our room and while in the car, valuables are kept in the trunk out of sight.

The other thing we love are the island's restaurants. There is something for everyone in every price range. This is one island where you do not have to go "all inclusive". If you do, you miss a lot of that Aruban hospitality found outside of the resorts. Some folks complain that Aruba is too "Americanized". Yes, the Aruban people themselves like to eat at Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Burger King and all the rest...no one is forcing Americans to eat there.

Although we mostly go for the beaches and cuisine, there is also every watersport imaginable, shopping and casinos.

GORGEOUS!!! The people are very nice there. The atmosphere is great. We went on a tour to the Butterfly Garden (my moms idea, lol), but the ride there, we stopped at the Natural Bridge (nice photo opp), & several other landmarks. The shopping is good, too.We ate at Carlos 'N' Charlies. It is so much FUN eating there & the food is good!! I just hate that Aruba has acquired a bad rep ever since Natalie Holloway(?) disappeared. I would highly suggest going there, just dont venture off alone especially if you drink. Be safe!! Have fun!

I think it is the best vacation spot in the world. I feel for the Natalie Holloway family and pray for an answer for them. But I would feel safer walking the beach at night there than in my own neighborhood. When we were there the people were so nice and friendly. Only one person who wasn't and that was the customs lady at the airport. She was a real witch. She may no longer be there. This was several years ago. The weather is perfect all year round. The tradewinds keeps it comfortable. The water is beautiful! On the desert side, the ocean is a bright blue. Breathtaking color and waves. The Caribbean side is calm and clear.

Aruba is the second best place I have ever been. Nice and warm people. Visit it once and you will be in love, believe me.

I think its a great place to go for beach time relaxing. It does not havea lot of tour attractions to visit (you can see it all in one day) but the beaches are great and so are the restaurants. But for me, its a long way to go for a great beach, there are others I like that are closer, like Cancun.
