did you feel that you were treated fairly, like others that had filed with one? also did you have to pay anything back, and if so how much? Do you think you would have come out better filing through an attorney and spending that extra money, or were you satisfied???I am definately going to file, just need some details!!!!!

I have done both. The second time I used a legal aid office.

Bankruptcy attorneys know how to quickly fill in the details and generally take about an hour of your time to fill in the blanks.
It took me more effort to do it myself with legal aid.

You don't pay anything back. Chapter 7 is complete write off of all debt whether you, or an attorney, does the work. The question is, how valuable is your time and how knowledgeable are about the process.

Filing Pro Se is very straightforward....However, you have to complete a required financial education class PRIOR to filing any Bankruptcy papers w/ the Court.....Call Consumer Credit Counseling or the Bankruptcy Court to get a list of approved classes......and your income (passed 6mo) must be below the state median ....If you income is above you CAN'T file CHAP7...

you'd be forced into a 13.

I had a friend use an attorney. He ****ed it all up and she was ****ed beyond belief. It was a mess.

I say if you want anything done right, do it yourself.

OR get freaking tons of recommendations from friends etc.

You don't pay anything. Clean slate. , ****ed up credit report for ten years or whatever it is, you can't get anything on credit - if you do, you pay for it, that's about it.
