WHY?? I learn a lot from both of them, but I rather ask a question on difficult issues and listen what other's are answering. It is nice to get a larger picture than mine, even if I do not agree with it.

When you answer a tough question for someone else you give them your opinion and share your way of thinking with them. This usually helps the person answering the question to sort things out more than the one asking. Better to ask a well conceived question that points the direction to enlightenment.

I like asking questions but I don't do it as often as I answer - mostly because really useful (or difficult) questions don't occur to me often. Asking is an action and answering is a reaction - you just see a list of questions and choose one that you have two cents to add to.

Having said that, I always enjoy reading other people's answers - whether they're to my question or to other people's questions. If there's an interesting question about which I have no idea, I'll still click on it to read the answers. If I have nothing to contribute, I won't. In some cases, I'll even put a good question on my 'watch list' to return to later.

The interesting thing is that both the process of asking and the process of answering increase my knowledge and my understanding. How can answering a question increase your understanding? Well, the process of putting unformed thoughts into words has made me evaluate my own ideas and conclusions. Seeing them on the screen is very different from idly pondering them. I think it's been a great process and one that I enjoy very much.

the wisest teacher is, because they are sincere in their desire to learn, a good and understanding listener. people who answer and know had to listen and learn to get that knowledge. not hearing things you might not like expands your mind at the same time as it can strengthen your beliefs. also, seeing some of the answers that occur often on this site shows how much people don't know as much as they think they do, which is what makes the world a scary place.
a really nice kabbalistic teaching is that a person is a vessel - like a glass - and a glass that is full is like a person who is full of themselves, and because of that there is no room left - for God, for anyone, to come in.
Keep asking!

I guess I'm a bit of a loudmouth when it comes to the web. I love to share my opinion, even if I don't really have one. So, I prefer to answer difficult questions rather than answer them. I only ask a question when I'm curious and can't find a similar question laying around(or am having a lazy moment).

Here's a question? Is President Bush stupid? Well now, lets see if we can put a few things in perspective for those among us who are the truly imbecilic, moronic, ignoramuses who think GWB is stupid.

Shall we compare what a stupid guy has done to what any of you have done - don't worry this will take about a second.

Here is a guy who, out of of 300 million people, has been selected twice to lead the country and who serves in the most powerful position of anyone in the country.

The USA is the most powerful, both economically and militarily, country on a planet with over 6 billion people on it. Does that make him the smartest guy on the planet? Probably not. Does it make him smarter than you? Without a doubt.

But let's continue. Shall we?

While you might consider him stupid, he was apparently smarter than the 100 million or so democrats who tried to defeat him in his last 8 elections. Plus, he received higher grades in college than the latest 2 liberal candidates threw up against him.

So, if according to you he is stupid, how has he also accomplished all of these things against people who you must consider smarter than you or why would you vote for them?

I would challenge you to take a look at your own pathetic, monumentally insignificant and truly worthless life and tell us all what you have accomplished in a way of even the most remote comparison.

The purpose of the question is to find exactly where YOU must inevitably rank on the intellectual scale in comparison since you have virtually nothing, either in your past or future, which will come close to a single one of gwb's accomplishments?

Looking at it that way, if you consider him stupid and he has accomplished all of these things, it must kind of make you feel about as insignificant and worthless as a drop of water in the worlds oceans. Or, to put it in terms you can relate to, a piece of cow sh*t in the middle of a 100,000 acre pasture. Sorry, but you have to agree!

This is a very interesting question. I tend to answer many questions to the best of my ability. I have had only one question that I felt was worthy of writing here. I suppose I am a bit shallow at the edges, for if I were not, perhaps I would ask more and answer less. Hmmmmm!

I agree with you totally. I like to get responses to a question. If it is a difficult question and people respond, I like the feeling of knowing that other people have taken the time to think about my question and respond. Makes me feel kinda 'not so alone' sometimes, when I am feeling unsure of life.
