It's probably just a cold sore inside the lip. However, if you do not take good care of your teeth and mouth then you could develop gum cancer and other various germs and diseases. It's best not to drink from other people, because, you never know, what they might have, esp. If they don't take care of their health (mouth and teeth).

It may be herpes. Herpes isn't always sexually transmitted. Many people hav it, and it's something you can get from something as innocent as drinking from someone else's cup or straw. Many kids get it this way. It is estimated that approximately 90% of the population carries herpes simplex virus. It is difficult to prevent children from picking up the virus at some time during their childhood. Children should strictly avoid close contact with people with cold sores (such as kissing parents with active cold sores) and avoid other children with herpetic stomatitis. They should not share utensils, glasses, or food with actively infected people. If you are worried, tell your Mom, and ask her to take you to the doctor. If it is herpes, this is something that never goes away, but herpetic stomatitis can be treated with the acyclovir family of antiviral medications (this is why you need to get to the doc to find out what it is). Good luck.

That would be Herpes Simplex and you will not be happy to have it as there is no cure. But know that a major percentage of the population has it,and ther are many different ways and strengths that it can affect you.
Or maybe you just bit the inside of your lip while you were drunk and didn't notice at the time. Hope for this scenario.

Now you know why you shouldn't have shared a straw with a bunch of people. Now you've got herpes simplex II. Expect sores to pop up whenever you get stressed or down. Taking zinc supplements might help.

If it's on the inside of your lip, chances are it's just a canker sore, most likely brought on by accidentally biting your lip, not drinking after other people. Don't worry, it'll go away after a day or two.
