There's nothing wrong with gettin a GED if you are out of high school. It would indicate that there was something unusual going on that you didn't graduate from high school, and there are probably some places that would prefer a diploma, but it could also depend on what your reason was for not being in school.
If you're going to be outside of the mainstream you'll have to get used to the fact that not everyone understands that. But that would mostly affect whether or not a college would accept you. Once you've already proven you can handle the course work, your high school situation doesn't matter much anymore.
My son did alternative stuff instead of high school, because it bored him. Last month he graduated with his BA and is now enrolled in graduate school.
So, no, a GED doesn't mean you're stupid!

No, absolutely not. You are not stupid.
The education system is so screwed for the most part anyways that they graduate people who can't even read in public schools. Don't ever think that way that you are not as good because you have a GED. I got one and it was because high school was such a living hell for me I couldn't go. My self esteem was messed up for years being around idiot kids who wouldn't let me learn. I'm glad I dropped out. I also went on to college and I actually did very well. You might have to get a little more help like a tutor and try a little harder because you missed some stuff but that is it. If you don't understand something just ask. You know the basics and you are just as good as any high school graduate.

A majority of people will just assume a person with a GED was a dropout, druggie, truant, got pregnant, etc. Also, there is the idea that if you stay in school, it says something about your character, again, ignoring the issue you may have had other issues which built your character more (taking care of a sick parent, etc.) Because of the stigma of a GED, I would counsel my friend to get a diploma. Of course, a GED is far better than neither.

Once you get a college diploma nobody is going to care whether you got a high school diploma or a GED. A GED does not automatically define somebody as stupid.

Nothing's wrong with getting a GED! I have a GED and have 4.0 GPA at college. I'm working on a BS degree, and this is what employers look at on your resume. Yeah, I've heard people say that high school dropouts are the only people with GED's but life happens, and don't let them get to you!

Honestly a person with a GED worked harder to get it. I got mine in just 6 weeks. After that I went to college and graduated with honors and am on the National Deans List for 2004-05. That is a very high honor for someone who is supposed to be stupider then the person who graduated from high school.
You are doing a great job so keep up the good work. You should be proud that you are where you are after you went through what you went through.
Good Luck to you!!

Stupid is a person who does not apply themself. If you got a 3.33 in college with a GED, then you are far from stupid. Their are many who never go on to college. You are working towards your goal. Do not stop until you have achieved it. The ones who are stupid are the ones who critisis you and never achieve for themself.

sounds like an habit to adrenaline. oftentimes, a man or woman must be hardwired at beginning for it to be this severe. It occurs--you notice in base jumpers, spelunkers, attempt against newshounds, and your pal. except he feels he has a concern, and contains that end by potential of himself, he can't replace. All i will recommend is to objective and settle for it as what makes him happy.
