Sounds like he is "protecting" his territory. Talk to your vet if this bothers you.

He just hit his teenage year. You need to neuter him if he isn't already. It really is the best thing for him.
Then take him to obedience classes. That is the best way to teach him manners without driving both of you nuts.
For now, put 10 pennies in a can, tape it closed, and shake the can when he barks and growls. If he ignores the noise, toss it so it lands near him, but don't hit him with it, you want to startle not maim. Yelling re-inforces the behavior, and hitting does no good. He will only learn not to trust you.
When he is quiet praise him. Catch him doing something right and praise him. Praise behavior you want repeated and ignore everything else.

First- you need to take him to the vet for a thorough checkup. In all likelihood he will get a clean bill of health. While at the vets make an appointment to get him neutered. Discuss the behavioral issues with the vet and get their take on it.
Then find a rewards based training class and enroll the 2 of you.
Most importantly love your dog. Play with him a lot. Walk him every day. Feed him a high quality food and make sure he has lots of water.

I also have a dog that developed that after a while. My grandpa that's a vet said that there are a number of reasons for him/her to do that. One recommendation is to get the dog fixed. Another is to find out a way to show the dog that the person is okay and is not there to hurt you, and thirdly, obedience school. Also some reasons the dog may do that is b/c he/she may be territorial over you, horomones, some type of incident that happened to the dog, seperation anxiety, you being gone for long periods of titme and the dog just trying to protect it's time with you, and horomones. One thing we used to help curb it is spraying our dog with some water, but that may not necessarily work for yours. Hope this helps!!

Have you been spending alot of time with your baby??If not, you need to show alot of attention to your pup, play games and ball with him.Let him know, when he has done something right, say, good boy and a pat on the head and when he does something great, tell him the same but give him a small milk bone..The barking and growling sounds like hes playing and wants people to notice him,or it could be, he is trying to protect
you...Enjoy your pup and play alot with him...

make sure that you can keep your dog away from hot weather as much as possible because it's true that hot weather sometimes makes dogs nuts. and it's true. because once bitten by a crazy dog, it will need lots of injections to stop it's infection.
P.S. have you checked lately that your dog's tail cause' if the dog keeps his tail downwards kind is straithened, i suggest that you consult with a dog doctor.

it is probably trying to protect it's domane. is it on a chain or in a fence. if so take the dog to a place where there is other people and have them give it some attention. it will make the animal calm down.

Wot kind of dog do you have? do you socialized it with other people?that is a great why to start he or she should come around. try letting other people give it a treat when you have him or her out for a walk to let it know when it sees people that it is OK to be nice.
