the koh samui hotel on the beach is good, things are more expensive there than in bkk though. everything you need to see, buy or do, in on the beach, well on the stretch right opposite the beach. are you going for the full moon party? And as for beer, it depends on what you drink, price range of 30-60 baht.

The price of beer depends on where you buy it and which brand. A street cafe bottle of Singha or Chang could be 50B, in a bar 75B, and a go-go 150B -- although look out for 'happy hours'.

Same with meals -- you can eat very cheaply (20B for a plate of stirfry or curry with rice) if you eat what the locals do at the local cafes, and even good class restuarants are inexpensive. But if you go to restaurants aimed at tourists serving western dishes you can pay comparable prices. The Thais eat all the time and you are never far from a meal.

Use www.xe.com to convert price from Thai Baht to Oz dollars.

Have a great time - cheers

if you eat out in australia the cost will be anything from $5 (at places like mcdonalds) to $100 or more at expensive restaurants - as a general guide a decent meal excluding drinks will be around $25 per person - all in aussie dollars
