Actually it's nothing dangerous, but you get severe head ache and joint pain. it will be there for 15 days or more than that. Drink lot of water, take lot of fruit juice. Do not take any cold items like curds and also avoid potatoes which will increase the joint pain. Do not panic if you get the disease. Go to the doctor and have a check up. There is no particular medicine for this. But Ayurvedic and Homeopathy medicine will surely cure the diesease.

Chikungunya is a relatively rare form of viral fever caused by an alphavirus that is spread by mosquito bites from the Aedes aegypti mosquito, though recent research by the Pasteur Institute in Paris claims the virus has suffered a mutation that enables it to be transmitted by Aedes albopictus (Tiger mosquito). This was the cause of the actual plague in the Indian Ocean and a threat to the Mediterranean coast at present, requiring urgent meetings of health officials in France, Italy, and Spain

The mosquito species that transmits the Chikungunya virus is the Aedes albopictus, commonly known as the Asian tiger mosquito or forest mosquito. There being no vaccine or preventive drug for chikungunya at present, the best way to avoid the infection is to control the mosquito population in the region and prevent mosquito bites.

Last year, several members of the Iowa State University Department of Entomology presented the results of a study on common catnip. Among their conclusions was the fact that an essential oil in catnip is 10 times more effective at repelling mosquitoes than potent chemicals such as DEET.

The symptoms of chikungunya include fever which can reach 39°C, (102.2 °F) a petechial or maculopapular rash usually involving the limbs and trunk, and arthralgia or arthritis affecting multiple joints which can be debilitating. There can also be headache, conjunctival injection and slight photophobia.

The best treatment for Chikunguniya is drinking 6-8 glasses of distilled water each day a pinch of sea salt. This will hydrate and mineralize the body giving it the best ability to flush toxins a relieve body aches.
I would also take mega doses of Vitamin C.
I would also drink unsweetened fruit juice or vegetable juice with
a teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar with a dash of cayenne, turmeric, and cinamon to provide good flora and PH balance to speed up recovery.
