Just be reasonable. If a deal sounds too good to be true most times it is.
Check a sellers feedback rating, actually read the feedbacks they have received, so you know what people had to complain about in dealing with this seller.
Use PayPal as payment. Not only is it preferred by most sellers, it's fast and you won't have to send your financial information to any Tom,Dick and Harry. Only PayPal will have the information needed. A plus in using PayPal is that they will step up to the plate for you if a seller does you dirty.
They got me my money back for an item I never received. I tried resolving things with the seller and she got nasty, so I wrote to PayPal and they took care of things for me.
Ebay is fun and sometimes you can save a bundle. You have to make sure that the price AND the shipping doesn't come to be more than what you would pay elsewhere. Lots of sellers breaking ebay rules by charging $.99 for an item, and then jacking up the shipping costs(e.g. 1cent CD with $8.99 shipping??). They avoid having to pay eBay their cut of the sale price that way. So, as with most things, use common sense and enjoy.

You should post the ad that you saw so all of us can use it as a lesson on what NOT to even respond to. You are probably trying to buy a car way below market value? The old saying that if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. NEVER EVER send money to ANYONE using a scam service such as the non-existent eBay safe pay. You send the money it's gone and you have nothing to show for it other than tears and jeers. DON'T DO THIS TRANSACTION!!!!

MOST people on ebay are honest. You will get scammers though. The key is to research your seller. I've been buying and selling for 6 years and have never been ripped off. Education is key.
Check out the answer center under the community tab. There is a wealth of info.

You pay through Paypal.com a sister company to ebay but requires passwords and exact information to pay for items or recieve money if selling. I have done so much business with ebay through the years. Some people jerk you around but you can easily report them and they will get kicked off ebay.

I have made about five purchases through eBay over the last five years or so. Not a lot, true, but I always had a good experience. You can check a seller's profile to see if they have had any complaints or if they have a good rating, and that helps.

I've been using E-bay for years and I have had no bad experiences whatsoever. You just have to keep an eye on other user's feedback rating's to give you an idea of how trustworthy they are.
