A person of your opposite gender queries you for chat on YIM. You accept and begin chatting. That person appears to be developing a relationship for you very quickly. You learn that that person is from another country. You discuss many topics over the course of one week. That person asks you for a very important favor. The tell you that a relative in the States wants to send them a money order, but he/she can not cash a money order in their country. They ask if the Uncle can send you the money order for you to cash. He/she wants an address and your name to send the money order. What do you do?

1. I would never give my name/address to an unknown person.
2. I did not solicit any money.
3. This person was born in Nigeria; is currently living and working in London, England, UK ... alledgedly.
4. I became very suspicious about this money request and said flatly, No!
5. Question and scenario posted primarily for input from anyone else chatting on Yahoo Instant Messenger and has had a similar experience.

Tell this person that you are sorry but you cannot do it. Giving your address to someone you don't even know is just a little too dangerous this day and age. Plus, since 9/11 the FBI are tracking money that is being sent overseas. I wouldn't get involved if I were you. Be very careful. If you don't want to tell him no, then block him from you messenger. That way he can't contact you anymore.

A typical Nigerian Scam, I'm surprised that everyone, hasn't heard of them yet. They are in the newspapers and on TV all the time. Usually they offer you half of millions of dollars to help them get a bank account in the USA,. but you have to put up, some big money up front, as a show of good faith. Once you do that, if you are stupid enough or greedy enough, your deposit is gone and thats the last you hear of them. Steer clear of those Nigerians.

Stay away from these people. Most of these email are initiated from African countries or immigrant from african countries. There was a documentary in CNN about how these immigrants do steal identity and scams the whole banking system in US. Please don't fall into this trap.

it is a scam, regardless of your connection with this person. scam artists will do anyting to get your information. don't give anyting. u will b sorry if u do. trust me, i used to be involved in tracking these deviants and this is all i can say.
