When it comes to irons steel shafts are best for more people or at least not worth the extra money. When they first came out they where more flexable and helped older golfer or weaker golfers get more distance. Now just lighter because they can make stiff now. The can also control the kick point of a shaft to help hit the ball higher or longer. I suggest going to a demo day and finding out what works best with your swing.

from what I have been told graphite shafts allow you to hit the ball farther but steel are more accurate
