My dad picked it up so he could show it to me, and then placed it in the neighbor's bushes. But a few hours later, it ran into my backyard. I hope it doesn't need a parent to feed it. Do baby quail scrounge for seed by themselves? Can I just leave it alone?

young quail dont need parents to feed them
u should only put food and water to it
food u offer it should be crashed grains wich is rich in protein (14%protein daily)
about water becareful that small quail may fall in the drinker and die so u should use either drinker with small openinig only permits its peak to get into it
or use a normal plate and put another one smaller on it overturned
i hope that u succeed to bring it up

lolx depend on the breed, i had this brown with white stripes one 5 years back. Just keep it in an vendilated enclosed styrofome box( for warmth), avoid touching it too much. Just buy quail food( which looks like light brown sand, check out yr nearby pet stores) and as for the water, just find a unused bottle cap which is still at a good condition and filled it with clean clear normal tap water. Good luck, it will start laying eggs about 4 - 8 mths, depends on the breed again. ^.^ mine didnt learn to fly, cause its too fat XD

The parents may be looking for it. Do you hear any quail making noises around your yard? That means they are searching for the baby. If not, you may want to keep it safe until morning.

You should probably just give it to the vet. It would be best for the quail as quail is not a common pet.

If it's up and moving by itself, your best bet is to leave it alone.

Otherwise, do you have an emergency vet in the area? Our local emergency vet will accept baby birds which the send off to a local woman who cares for them and rereleases where possible.

Cover it in a blanket of creamy sauce and warm it to 275 degrees for 45 minutes.

Please bring it to a wild animal hospital. Or call a vet to find out where to bring it. Even the SPCA. Don't try to care for it, it will die. Even call your local fish and game dept.
